Today we compare two of the best Android smartphones that Samsung has to offer. The Samsung Galaxy S4 goes head to head with the recently unveiled Samsung Galaxy Round in a battle of specs and features.

In this particular post, we will be comparing the international version of Samsung Galaxy S4, the GT-I9500. So the Exynos chipset powered flagship smartphone will compete against the Snapdragon 800 powered innovative smartphone.

But this battle is even more interesting because its not just a fight between two superpowers, it is also a battle between two different types of devices! The Galaxy S4 represents a standard smartphone with a standard display and high quality gorilla glass protection whereas the Galaxy Round is the first ever curved display smartphone from the company.

DISPLAY
The Samsung Galaxy S4 has a 5-inch Full HD Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels and a pixel density of 441 ppi. The display on the smartphone is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3.

The Samsung Galaxy Round has a much larger screen as compared to the Galaxy S4. The smartphone has a 5.7-inch Super Flexible AMOLED touchscreen display with a screen resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels and pixel density of 386 ppi. The glass used on the Galaxy Round is very tough and almost unbreakable.

HARDWARE
The Samsung Galaxy S4 is equipped with the Exynos 5 chipset. The device is powered by a 1.6GHz Cortex-A15 processor and a 1.2GHz Cortex-A7 processor, PowerVR SGX544MP3 GPU and 2GB of RAM.

The Samsung Galaxy Round is equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset. The Galaxy Round is powered by a 2.3GHz Krait 400 CPU, Adreno 330 GPU and has 3GB of RAM. This hardware configuration resembles the one present on the 4G LTE version of Samsung Galaxy Note 3, hence you can expect an equally good performance.

WINNER – Samsung Galaxy Round (much faster than the Exynos version of S4)

OPERATING SYSTEM
The Samsung Galaxy S4 runs on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean right out of the box and has Samsung’s TouchWiz UI on top of it. The Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update for the Galaxy S4 is being gradually rolled out. So you don’t really have to wait for a long period of time before being able to get your hands on the latest firmware.

The Samsung Galaxy Round runs on the latest version of Android, Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. You will also be able to use all the special apps and features provided by Samsung. As an added advantage, consumers will not have to worry about updating their devices, not at least till Android 4.4 KitKat is out!

STORAGE
The Samsung Galaxy S4 comes with 16, 32 and 64GB of internal storage, and also has a microSD card slot using which you can expand storage by up to 64GB. Hence storage expansion is an easy option and can be done as and when you wish. At best, you can have a total storage space of 128GB on the Galaxy S4.

Unlike the Galaxy S4, the Samsung Galaxy Round comes with 32GB of internal storage, there is no other option available. But like every other Galaxy smart device, the Galaxy Round has a microSD card slot using which consumers can expand storage by up to 64GB. So at best, you can have a total storage space of 96GB on the Galaxy Round.

CAMERA
The Samsung Galaxy S4 has a 13MP primary camera and a 2MP secondary camera. The primary camera comes with features like autofocus, LED flash, touch focus, geo-tagging, face and smile detection, image stabilization, HDR and more.
The primary and secondary cameras on the Galaxy S4 allow you to record full HD 1080p videos at 30fps.

The Samsung Galaxy Round also has a 13MP primary camera with autofocus and LED flash, and a 2MP secondary camera. The primary camera comes equipped with features like dual shot, touch focus, geo-tagging, face and smile detection, image stabilization, HDR and more.
The primary camera on the Galaxy Round allows you to record 2160p videos at 30fps and the secondary camera allows you to record 1080p videos at 30fps.

BATTERY
The Samsung Galaxy S4 has a 2600mAh Li-Ion battery. This battery is able to provide talk time of up to 17 hours on 3G and a stand by time of up to 370 hours.

The Samsung Galaxy Round has a slightly bigger battery when compared to the Galaxy S4. The Galaxy Round has a 2800mAh battery Li-Ion battery. We do not have the official stats as of now but you can expect a decent talk time and standby time.

DIMENSIONS
The dimensions of the Samsung Galaxy S4 are 136.9 x 69.8 x 7.9 mm whereas the dimensions of the Samsung Galaxy Round are 151.1 x 79.6 x 7.9 mm.

WEIGHT
The Samsung Galaxy S4 weighs 130 grams whereas the Samsung Galaxy Round weighs 154 grams.

CONCLUSION
The battle between the Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Round has been an interesting one. We are not sure whether we would want to declare the winner of this battle because the decision actually depends a lot on choice and preference.

Both these smartphones are top-notch pieces of technology and we respect them both. But we would want to put forward some of the pros that each of these devices has over the other. We hope these doubts will help you make a decision as to which smartphone will suit you the best.

For instance, the Galaxy Round has the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset that will definitely be faster than the S4 and it also goes into your pocket easily. But then again, the Galaxy S4 is very light, smaller in size and many consumers might find it to be better and easier to use.
