Korean smartphone manufacturer Samsung is said to have successful sold over 5 million units of its latest flagship phablet, the Samsung Galaxy Note 3. This new Android phablet has had a great start and Samsung expects the device to do more wonders as time passes by.
According to the a report from the Korean publication Hankooki, Samsung has sold over 5 million units of the Galaxy Note 3 phablet in just one month. The publication said that this information was provided by the president of Samsung Mobile.
Before we start analyzing the Galaxy Note 3 sales, let us jump to the number game right away. To start with, you should know that it took more than 5 months for Samsung to ship 5 million units of the original Samsung Galaxy Note, when the device was launched. The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 on the other hand was able to perform much better. Samsung was able to sell 3 million units of the Galaxy Note 2 in the first month and the count crossed the 5 million mark after 2 months. But now, the latest addition to this Note family, the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 has sold over 5 million units in just month.
Now to simply explain the above information in short, take a look at the listing below and everything should be clear to you.
Device Name – Time it took to ship 5 million units
- Samsung Galaxy Note – 5 months
- Samsung Galaxy Note 2 – 2 months
- Samsung Galaxy Note 3 – 1 month
So with these figures, it is clear that Samsung is making progress, but we are not sure whether that progress can be considered significant or not. The reason for saying this is because the smartphone and tablet market has been growing every year. Other smartphones like the Samsung Galaxy S4 and the Apple iPhone 5S have been able to reach sales figures that are way better than what the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 was able to achieve.
But then again, the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is a phablet device and has been targeted towards a specific group of consumers. So Samsung already knew what they were getting into and we hope that the company will be able to achieve its sales and shipping targets.
Coming back to sales figures, you will be happy to know that Samsung was able to sell over 38 million units of the Galaxy Note and Galaxy Note 2 till date. This is definitely a big number when you consider the fact that phablets were not do popular and demanded for when the Galaxy Note was introduced. In addition to this, the prices at which these phablets were launched in itself reduces the potential number of consumers who would be ready to buy such high-end devices.
Talking about other smartphones, to be more specific we wanted to talk about the Galaxy S4 and the iPhone 5S since we mentioned these names earlier. Samsung was able to sell over 40 million units of the Samsung Galaxy S4 whereas Apple recently gave out its financial report in which the company clearly mentioned that it has sold more than 33 million units of the iPhone 5S.
So these are all big numbers, and the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 might not exactly be able to get there! In fact, the phablet does not necessarily have to show sales figures that sound off the chart. But when it comes to competition, the Note 3 definitely is one of the best Android phablets in the market.
