For all of you out there who does not like to buy the bigger e-book readers because you do not want to spend too much money for it, the Kobo Mini is for you. Retailing at only $97.61 on Amazon, this member of the eReader series by Kobo is even smaller than most paperback books that you buy in stores. Sony, which is a more popular brand, actually offers an almost similar product that it released a few years ago but it sells at a more expensive price. As a pocket device, let us take a look at Mini and discuss its better features.
Decent Display And Battery
Starting on the technical side of things, the Kobo Mini only measures 102 x 133 x 10 mm and weighs 134 grams. It sports a 5-inch screen with touch features and E Ink technology that is famous among other e-book readers in the market. Since this is a small device, we did not mind that it only showcases 800 x 600 pixels of resolution. In terms of the battery, the Mini can last for at least 1 month if the user turned the Wi-Fi off. If you only want to concentrate on your reading, then this device will work for you.
Software And Compatibility
The Kobo Mini, just like the other members of the eReader series, is supported by Kobo Reading Life. This is where users can track the books that they have read, note their favorite quotations and share it all on Facebook. Meanwhile, the Mini is compatible with the basic PDF and ePUB file formats. The ePub file means that it can also recognize books sold from stores which uses the Adobe DRM type.
Lacking E-Books And Ports
It would be better if the Kobo Mini has a more capable provider of e-books and other reading materials. Amazon or Barnes & Noble offer a better selection which means that if the consumer is a scholar who wants better materials, he or she would definitely dismiss this e-book reader. On the other hand, it is also unfortunate that the Mini has no memory card slot and audio jack. The device offers a native 2 GB of storage and users just have to work with what they have when buying and loaning the e-books that they want. It also has no audio support at all.
Modest And Functional
The Kobo Mini is a simple e-book reader which is functional in its own way. It has Wi-Fi connectivity which is generally the best kind of connectivity that we can achieve for such a small device. Also, the fact that it is affordable is a good thing and attracts more customers.
