The Motorola Moto G is finally official and we now know everything about this new Android smartphone. At a special event yesterday, Motorola officially unveiled the Motorola Moto G, the second smartphone in the company’s Moto series.
The Motorola Moto G is a mid-segment smartphone and has been targeted towards consumers who want good value for the money they spend. So you don’t have to compare this smartphone with the Motorola Moto X, because the Moto X still remains the flagship smartphone of the company.
Compared to other company standards and the expectations consumers have from smartphones, the Motorola Moto G packs a decent hardware configuration and has some really useful features. For instance, the smartphone has a mere 1950mAh battery, but the company says that it will be enough to last for one complete day of regular use.
Motorola has worked a lot on the software part in order to ensure that the hardware is used in an optimized way along with very low power consumption. Believe it or not, Motorola says that the Moto G is even faster than the Samsung Galaxy S4 when it comes to basic functions and operations. Motorola also compared the Motorola Moto G with the Apple iPhone 5S saying that the Moto G will be able to provide 30 percent extra talk time!
And this time, Motorola has also added some extra protection by giving a water-resistant nano-coating to the inside of the smartphone. On the outside, the display is protected by Gorilla Glass 3, so you wont have to worry about getting scratches and marks on your screen.
Coming to the technical details, the Motorola Moto G has a 4.5-inch touchscreen display with a screen resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels. And as mentioned earlier, the display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The smartphone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 chipset that consists of a 1.2GHz quad-core processor, Adreno 305 GPU and 1GB of RAM.
On the backside, you have a decent 5MP shooter and on the front side you get a 1.3MP shooter. The device offers you two internal space options – 8GB and 16GB. But there is no microSD card slot available; hence storage expansion at a later stage will not be possible. The smartphone runs on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean right out of the box and has a 2070 mAh battery that will go on for one full day.
You must be interested to know the pricing and availability details of the Motorola Moto G, so we have that information here for you. Motorola will be offering the 8GB version of Moto G for $179 whereas the 16GB version will cost you $199. These prices are applicable to the SIM-free and unlocked variants that will hit the market in January of 2014. Motorola will be launching this smartphone in 30 countries, so you just need to wait and watch whether your country is included in the list.
And if you are wondering about the customization features, the Motorola Moto G does have a removable back cover. You can swap different colored back panels as and when you wish, these colors include black, white, dark blue, light blue, pink, yellow and red. There are many more accessories like flip covers, colored protective cases as well as JBL wireless speakers that you can get your hands on in order to personalize your user experience.
