Xbox One – Entertainment Applications That You Never Want To Miss

The first time that the Xbox 360 landed in our living rooms, Netflix and other online streaming services were still not available. The same goes with the PlayStation 3. However, Microsoft was the first company to integrate the Netflix application in its game console. It was in the year 2008 and the Xbox 360 was the first one to get it for the exclusive members of Xbox Live Gold. One year later, Sony followed with its own PlayStation wherein the company incorporated a new Netflix interface and required to use a specially made “streaming disc”.

As you can see, Microsoft and Sony came a very long way before developing the Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Today, Netflix and other online video streaming services are only a few of the applications that are available to use in these game consoles. And sometimes, we use it as the main factor in comparing the two devices.

Important And New Applications

We all know how Microsoft and Sony often compete against each other when it comes to their game consoles. In comparing through the applications, we can say that both devices were not as luxurious as we expected when it was first launched. Even their predecessors did even better at that time. However, as time went by, Sony and Microsoft announced more applications that will be available for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Below, we are going to compare these applications and look at how they really make up these game consoles.

Xbox And PlayStation Platforms

Xbox One - Entertainment Applications That You Never Want To MissMost of the applications which are going to be compatible for the Xbox One will be available between the release date and Spring 2014. The only application which will not be accessible on November 22 is the HBO Go. On the other hand, owners of One should be a member of the Xbox Live Gold before they can use any kind of entertainment applications from third-party developers. However, even if they are already a member, some of these applications – like Netflix and Hulu Plus – still require a monthly subscription or a satellite television membership for HBO Go, Watch ESPN, Fox Now, Verizon Fios TV and more.

In terms of the PlayStation 4, all applications packed in this game console have been made available on the 15th of November which is the same day of its official release. Unlike the Xbox One, owners of the PlayStation 4 do not have to become members of the PlayStation Plus to make use of the entertainment applications available.

Essentially, any application that is not available right now for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 may still have a chance to be incorporated in the game console in the future.
