Sony has officially announced the Sony Xperia Z1 f in Japan! The Sony Xperia Z1 f is the latest addition to the company’s Xperia series of smartphones. And if you haven’t figured it out already, the Sony Xperia Z1 f is actually the Sony Xperia Z1 Mini that we all (and most importantly the rumor mill) have been talking about.
The Sony Xperia Z1 f announcement did not really come to us a surprise thanks to previously leaked information. Some days ago, there was a rumor saying that the mini version of the Sony Xperia Z1 is headed to Japan as the ‘Sony Xperia Z1 f’ and will join the Samsung Galaxy J when the companies announce these devices for the popular Japan based carrier DoCoMo.
One of the most important questions popping up in your minds will be about the specs and features that Sony has provided in the Sony Xperia Z1 f. We are used to seeing smartphone companies use the names of their high-end smartphone and then come up with a mini version of it! But the usual problem is that they never make the mini version as powerful as (or even near close to) the original one.
But this is not the case with the Sony Xperia Z1 f! The Sony Xperia Z1 f is truly a mini version of the Sony Xperia Z1. You will be happy to know that Sony has put in everything they could in order to make the Xperia Z1 f a winner! You get the same Snapdragon 800 chipset, 20MP primary camera, high capacity internal storage, microSD card support and the amazing dustproof and water-resistant body.
The only important changes you should know about is that the Sony Xperia Z1 f has a 720p HD display resolution (instead of the 1080p full HD present on the Xperia Z1) and a 2300mAh battery (instead of the 3000mah battery present on the Xperia Z1). But these changes were important because the Xperia Z1 f has a much smaller screen and form factor. These changes will hardly make a difference in the overall performance and user experience.
But if you have started making plans for the Sony Xperia Z1 f, we need to stop you at least for now. The reason being that the Sony Xperia Z1 f is currently exclusive to Japan’s largest carrier DoCoMo. The carrier company will be offering the smartphone starting from December and consumers will be able to choose between 4 color options – black, white, pink, and lime. So we are not sure when this smartphone will make its international debut, but we will keep you posted.
