It was a surprise when Motorola decided to release a lower-end version of their impressive flagship handset Moto X. Called the Motorola Moto G, this will have similar features but with only different materials. This means that it will also be more affordable to consumers. According to the official website, it will be officially launched in January next year with a starting price of $179 – which compared to other mobile handsets is considerably cheap. Now, let’s take this review and determine for ourselves the best and worst features of the Moto G.
Physically speaking, the Motorola Moto G has different color options just like the Moto X. Specifically, it targets younger people who want to own vibrant and, at the same time, durable electronic devices. In terms of the display, the Moto G has 4.5 inches of diagonal screen size that showcases 1280 x 720 pixels of display resolution. Although it is physically small, it is packed with the HD technology which can provide an attractive viewing experience for the users. On the other hand, the Moto G also has a large storage facility and has two configurations. The first one has 8 GB while the second has 16 GB of internal storage. And because this is an exclusive Google phone, Motorola is offering 50 GB of free storage on Google Drive for the span of two years.
Like we already mentioned, the Motorola Moto G is also owned by Google which means that it is powered by the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean mobile operating system. Essentially, there is nothing really wrong with that. The only thing that concerns the consumers is the fact that the Android 4.4 KitKat is already available. If possible, Motorola should work on an upgrade so that individuals who will own this device can also experience the latest services of Google. The other thing that we noticed is the battery feature of the Moto G – but not necessarily at a disadvantage. According to the spec sheet, it has 2070 mAh of battery capacity which can last for 24 hours of average use. Of course, that is an impressively big number. Unfortunately, it will all still depend on how the user maximizes or minimizes its use of games and other battery-draining applications.
The Bottom Line
The opinion of consumers is important. The Motorola Moto G, even with a few flaws and glitch, is still a considerably impressive mobile phone that has the capacity to provide different services to consumers. Unfortunately, we still have to wait a little longer before Motorola and Google finally unveil it to the world.
