We have some interesting news for Samsung Galaxy S4 and Samsung Galaxy Note 3 consumers who have been looking forward to the Android 4.4 KitKat forward update for their flagship Android devices. Leaked documents from Samsung indicate that the company will be rolling out the Android 4.4 KitKat firmware update for these flagship devices in January of 2014!

Recently, a leaked document from Samsung has been spotted on the Internet. The document gives out the details about when Samsung flagship smart devices like the Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note 3 will be getting the Android 4.4 KitKat firmware update. The document confirms that a number of high-end Samsung smart devices will be getting the Android 4.4 KitKat update, and the list includes the following 4 devices:

  • Samsung Galaxy Note 3 (SM-N900)
  • Samsung Galaxy Note 2 (SM-N7100)
  • Samsung Galaxy S4 (GT-I9500)
  • Samsung Galaxy S3 (GT-I9300)

Out of these 4 devices mentioned above, the latest generation flagships, the Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy S4 will be getting the update as son as January next year. So it means that consumers will have to wait for two months at the most; we know this time period might seem to be too long, but there is a lot of work involved.

On the other hand, the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S3 will be getting Android 4.4 KitKat somewhere between March and April of next year. So Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S3 consumers will have to wait for additional 2 months.

As you can see in the image, the heading reads ‘KRT16 UPDATE EXPECTED RELEASE.’ So it means that the dates could change, we could get the updates earlier than mentioned or could also get them a few days or weeks after. The update will most definitely come bundled with a new or improved version of Samsung’s TouchWiz UI (whether you like it or not).
