Just as promised, Motorola Moto X consumers have already started getting the Android 4.4 KitKat firmware update for their devices. After Verizon Wireless, its time for AT&T consumers to get the Android 4.4 KitKat update for their Motorola Moto X devices.
The good news – AT&T has officially started rolling out the Android 4.4 KitKat firmware update for the Motorola Moto X. The bad news – there is no bad news! Consumers will also be able to get the update quickly because there seems to be no carrier specific changes in the software update.
We did say that there is no bad news, but you still have to bear with the apps and stuff that you get as part of being an AT&T consumer. But you don’t really need to worry about all that, because there is a lot of Android 4.4 KitKat goodness waiting for you. There are a number of changes and improvements that will make your Moto X better, faster and smoother than ever before.
Android 4.4 KitKat consists of ‘Project Svelte,’ the successor of ‘Project Butter’ and is expected to make your smartphone smoother than butter. AT&T has also mentioned that the new update includes key enhancements to the user interface, phone dialer app, focus and exposure, and gallery apps. So if you wondering about the changes and improvements that have been made, we have the main list here for you. So go ahead and check out the list, and be sure to thank AT&T for the same.
- Improved user interface with Android 4.4 KitKat: The latest version of Android includes enhancements such as restyled status and navigation bars, a new full-screen mode, color emoji support, improved closed captioning support, stronger security, and smarter power use.
- Phone dialer app: The phone app now includes the ability to look up contacts directly from the dial pad, see and tap frequent contacts, and search corporate directories easily.
- Focus and exposure: The “touch to focus” option has been enhanced with a new circular on-screen control that can be dragged by your finger around the viewfinder to adjust a photo’s focus and exposure.
- Gallery app: New photo editing options are now available in the Gallery app including new filter effects, draw on your photos, advanced cropping, and adjustments for color, exposure, contrast and more.
If you are an AT&T consumer using the Motorola Moto X and have still not got the update notification, you can check for the same manually. In order to do so, go to Settings -> About Phone -> System Updates and you should see the available update here.
Be sure to fully charge your smartphone (or at least have more than 50 percent of battery) and then start the update procedure. Once the installation is complete, your smartphone will restart automatically and you will then be able to use Android 4.4 KitKat.
Sprint and US Cellular
It’s good to see that Verizon Wireless and AT&T have started rolling out the Android 4.4 KitKat update for the Motorola Moto X. But even then, other carrier companies like Sprint and US Cellular have a long way to go. They have not even made any kind of announcement regarding the update roll out and consumers are still on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean.
We hope that Sprint and US Cellular makes the official announcement or even better directly start rolling out Android 4.4 KitKat for the Motorola Moto X. Many consumers are waiting for this update, so we request you to stay tuned with us as we try to get all the information for you. We will also update you once the update is available, so be sure to check back later.
