Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is coming to Android, iOS and Windows Phone 8 mobile platforms

We have great news for smartphone gamers who love spending a lot of time on their devices playing games, shooting some bad guys and racing cars and bikes. Rockstar Games has made an official announcement saying that Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas will soon be available on all major mobile platforms.

Yes, that’s true, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (popularly known as GTA: San Andreas), the game that we all have been playing on our home computers, Sony PlayStation 2 and Microsoft Xbox 360 will soon reside in your smartphones as well. You won’t have to be at home or connected to your TV in order to take over the city anymore!

The best part of the announcement was that Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas will be available on all major mobile platforms namely Android, iOS, Windows Mobile and Amazon Kindle. The list of great news does not end here, because we have another good news in the list – the game will be released as soon as next month! And this time, the game will be improved, enhanced and upgraded for the mobile platform and will also includes important locations like Los Santos, San Fierro, Las Venturas and everything in between.

But the list still does not end here, because if you are a mobile phone gamer or simply a fan of the GTA series (especially GTA: San Andreas) then we have another important update for you! A post on Rockstar Newswire indicates that the upcoming mobile version of GTA: San Andreas will receive a complete overhaul and this would make it the best looking version of San Andreas you would have ever played.

Changes, Improvements and New Features (The Overhaul)
Fans and consumers all around the world have been playing Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas on their PCs and gaming consoles. So we are pretty much used to keyboards and joystick controllers, but when the game will be available on mobile platforms, we need touch controls!

Hence as a part of the overhaul, the mobile version of GTA: San Andreas will be getting new touch screen controls, three different schemes for driving and a revised and improved checkpoint system that will help you progress through the game easily. This is not meant to make the simple, rather it helps you avoid having to play mission over and over again and replay parts of games that you might already have completed.

There are a lot of other options as well, for instance the game will allow you to display on-screen buttons only when they are needed. Along with customizable options, even the graphics have been revamped. For the mobile version, the graphics have been redesigned and have more detailed shadowing, larger draw distance and an enriched color palette. There are a number of changes and improvements to the characters and car models, making them more appealing and ‘best-looking’ according to Rockstar.

“Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas for mobile also comes equipped with full controller support, including Made for iOS controller capability on iOS7,” said Rockstar. So even if you feel uncomfortable with the touch controls or simply want to get a better gaming experience with your gamepads or controllers, that option will also be available for you. So you can use stat-of-the-art gamepads and controllers like the Logitech PowerShell and the Moga Ace Power that have been designed for Apple devices running on iOS 7.

We know that this is not the first time that we get to play a GTA title on our mobile devices. Rockstar Games had already rolled out a number of GTA titles including Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars, Grand Theft Auto 3 and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. They all are doing well in the market, but we have a strong feeling about this one!

Gran Theft Auto: San Andreas has definitely been one of the most popular and famous versions of GTA (if not the best!). Many fans and consumers would readily vote for this game to be the best GTA game that they have played. But we are not interested in proving anything here; all we want you to do is look forward to a game that will help you rejoice!

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas will be available in the market soon. The company has also promised to give out ‘more details in the weeks ahead.’ So if you are keen about getting this game and want to stay updated, be sure to stay tuned as we will keep on getting the latest updates for you.

So are you excited to start playing GTA: San Andreas on your smartphone? Will you want to go through the epic journey once again, or are you done with this version of GTA? Let us know about your opinions and views in the comments section below.

It is definately a game I would endulge in, but I won’t until we get a release date and a list of compatable devices.

I KNOW the game WILL be less than 4GB because the maximum size for any application to any extent on the market itself has the requirement to be less the 4 Gigabytes. So, A potential plus for some people that want it but have a low memory device.

Sorry for CodexPlayer’s comment. We can learn/realize a lot by this type of extremeness. And what’s funny about it is he’s probably trying his best to be nice… just needs a little practice, KWIM? 8•P

Loved your article BTW. ! Can’t wait for the game. Hope it plays on iPad 2. You write with your joy, it’s a very good style! Keep it up and try not to make anything out of comments like CodexPlayer’s one. It is quite unavoidable to be shocked when you read something as extreme as that. …I guess it goes to show how some people are in complete lack of warmth.
    Cheers! To warmth!
