Recently, there have been a number of rumors and reports indicating that Samsung will use a 16MP camera sensor on its next-gen flagship smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy S5. But it seems that the company will be using an even better (and improved) camera sensor for its future next-gen phablet, the Samsung Galaxy Note 4!
We have hardly reached the end of the year 2013, and it’s hardly been a few months since Samsung unveiled the Samsung Galaxy S4 and the Samsung Galaxy Note 3. But the world of smartphones has now reached a level where flagship smartphones and phablets could change hands within a period of few months!
And this is the reason why the Internet is already full of rumors and reports about the Samsung Galaxy S5! If you do not already know, the Samsung Galaxy S5 was supposed to feature Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), but due to problems from suppliers, the Korean smartphone manufacturer had to drop the feature. The Samsung Galaxy S5 is expected to be unveiled sometime in Q1 of 2014 and is expected to go on sale by the end of March.
We have already come across a number of details about the Samsung Galaxy S5. We have heard that the device will have a 2K screen resolution, IGZO display technology that will allow for a much bigger battery, 4000 mAh battery, 64-bit processing enabled Samsung Exynos 6 series chipset and a 16MP primary camera.
But we now have an even more interesting update for consumers who have been following the future Samsung Android flagship smart devices. Because of the experience it had with the OIS components for the Galaxy S5, Samsung seems to have started working on a 20MP camera module of its own! So even though the Galaxy S5 will have a high performance 16MP camera, the Galaxy Note 4 might be one step ahead of it!
This report comes from the Korean website ETNews, which says that the Advanced Development Team of the Wireless Business Division of Samsung Electronics is currently working on a 20-megapixel camera module. The team has set a target of finishing the work early next year so that it can be released by the second half of the year 2014. This will most probably be the same time when you can expect Samsung to unveil the Samsung Galaxy Note 4!
Most probably, the team will not be able to finish this 20MP camera module soon enough to use it on the Galaxy S5. Hence if you are looking forward to getting the Galaxy S5, you better expect a 16MP shooter, not a 20MP one. But if you plan on waiting for a few more months and get your hands on the Galaxy Note 4, you will be in for a big surprise from Samsung! There will be features we do not know about, there will be specs that will blow your mind, but for now time and patience is the key.
