Nexus smartphones and tablets have started receiving Android 4.4.2 Kitkat updates. Google started rolling out the new software as it was found to be necessary to fix the bugs and other issues.
This version comes shortly after the 4.4.1 update which didn’t last too long. Google decided to rollout the 4.4.2 version on Sunday.
The update to Nexus 10 tablet is also expected soon and would be followed by other Google edition devices including the Moto X. Update for Nexus 7 tablet will start rolling out by next week, whereas Nexus 4 and Nexus 5 have already started receiving the firmware update.
So, if you haven’t received the 4.4.1 update dont worry as now you can directly install 4.4.2 on you Nexus 5 , Nexus 4 and nexus 7.
As per information released by Sprint the following changes have been carried out (There is no official change log released from Google yet).
- Fix for clearing the VM Indicator
- Fix for delivery of the VM Indicator
- Various additional software fixes
- Security enhancements
The changes involve minor fixes to improve the voice mail indicator and some other software fixes and security enhancements which have not been specified in detail.
Nexus 5 gets exclusive camera updates that would improve performance and fix bugs. As per Google, the update will fix issues with the Nexus 5’s 8MP camera which has problems with shutter lag and focus. The new update is likely to improve the overall camera quality in terms of focus, white balancing low light performance and shutter lag.
The system update states, “This update improves the Nexus 5 camera with faster shooting (less shutter lag, less motion blur); faster, more accurate focusing; better white balance for truer colours; and more accurate exposures. The update also includes other bug fixes and performance improvements.”
Google has released only two firmware updates till now whereas its competitor Apple has released up to version 7.0.4 which include various bug fixes and enhancements.
