We have great news for Samsung fans and consumers who love playing video games on their Galaxy range of smart devices. Samsung has officially launched its very own gamepad called Samsung Smartphone Gamepad in Europe using which you can play all your favorite games like never before.
The new device has simply been named as ‘Samsung Smartphone Gamepad’ and it might take some time before getting used to the simple name. But the good part is that the gamepad comes with a lot of exciting features and supports a wide number of games by default.
Samsung always wants to take care of its consumers, and as a result of the same, the company has tried to come up with the best gamepad possible. As you can see in the images, the gamepad is compact and looks great. In a way, it seems to be similar to the Xbox One controller and also has a design similar to tiny gamepads offered by other companies.
Coming back to the games list we mentioned, the Samsung Smartphone Gamepad (yes, still sounds like an odd name) supports 35 games right out of the box. So you don’t have to do anything special if you are planning to play any of these 35 games with this controller! And yes, these 35 games aren’t just any titles that you might have come across; they also include some of the best games that are available on Play Store.
To keep it simple and easy for you to check, we have the list of games here for you. We aren’t going to list out all the 35 games, but we hope that these games will get you excited enough. And before checking out the list, also note that the number of games supported by default will just keep on increasing in the near future.
- Need for Speed™ Most Wanted
- Asphalt 8: Airborne
- Modern Combat 4: Zero Hour
- Prince of Persia: The Shadow and the Flame
- Virtua Tennis™ Challenge
The Samsung Smartphone Gamepad will be compatible with Android smartphones running on Android 4.1 and higher. If you have Android 4.3 you can use NFC to automatically connect the devices, if not then you have to use standard Bluetooth for connectivity. The gamepad can hold devices ranging from 4-inches to 6.3-inches in size.
“GamePad easily connects with smartphones and tablets through Bluetooth pairing. The most convenient features optimized for Samsung Galaxy devices running Android 4.3 such as Galaxy Note 3, S4, Note II, and S III enable easy connectivity with GamePad via NFC tag and quicker access to games via the ‘PLAY’ button,” said Samsung.
The Mobile Console App
Now that you have an idea about the games that can be played with the Samsung Smartphone Gamepad, there is one more important thing that you need to know. Samsung has come up with a new app that makes your overall gamepad experience even better.
So when you tap the PLAY button, you will easily be able to access the Mobile Console app that happens to be Samsung’s integrated game launching app. This app opens in conjunction with the Gamepad and allows users to easily browse and purchase games that are supported by this device.
As of now, the Samsung Smartphone Gamepad is only available in select European markets. The gamepad should soon be available in near-by regions in the weeks to come. And very soon, consumers all around the world should be able to get the Samsung Smartphone Gamepad in their region. There are no specific details available about the pricing of the gamepad, but we will get back to you with a detailed update very soon.
