We have one of the best news to hit the Apple community for the year 2013! Just before this fantastic year could come to an end, the developer group named evad3rs rolled out the Untethered Jailbreak for Apple iOS 7. The best part about this jailbreak is that it works on any version of Apple iOS 7, i.e. iOS 7.0 through iOS 7.0.4.
So if you have been holding on to your beloved Apple iPhone or iPad or iPad Mini or iPod Touch and were just waiting for the day when the official jailbreak would be out, then this is the day my friends! And just in case if you have any doubts in your mind, this one is not a fake in any way whatsoever – the jailbreak is officially here and it’s working!
We didn’t just want to talk the talk and so we even walked the walk! Yes, we have already tried the jailbreak tool from team evad3rs that has been named as evasi0n 7.0. We were able to successfully jailbreak the New iPad and first-gen iPad Mini that we had with us. We haven’t tried the process on an iPhone yet, but you can rest assured that the tool will work for every iOS device.
You might have heard about the jailbreak already, but we are here to even answer all the other questions that might have popped up in your minds. For instance, we will not only take you through the complete jailbreaking process, but we will also tell you about the precautions that you have to take before and after the process.
We know that you guys are excited (so we are), so let’s get started with the process that will open up new doors to customization and personalization for your iOS devices.
What you need:
- Evasi0n jailbreak tool
- A computer running either on Windows (XP minimum) or Mac OS X (10.6 minimum)
- Latest version of iTunes (if you are using a Windows computer)
- Your iOS device (running on iOS 7.0 through 7.0.4)
- USB cable
Where to get them:
- Evasi0n jailbreak tool for Windows
- Evasi0n jailbreak tool for Mac
- Computer (get your own!)
- iTunes for Windows
- iOS device (get your own!)
- USB cable (get your own!)
BEFORE YOU BEGIN:
These are some of the important steps and precautions that you should take before starting the jailbreak process. You might not have to go through all of them, but please read the entire list carefully.
1. Backup your iOS device
Even though the tool is completely safe to use, there are chances where you might make a mistake or not be able to proceed due to some reason. Hence we suggest that you backup all your apps and important data before starting the process.
2. Disable password lock
If you use a password system to lock your iOS device, you have to disable it before starting the process. This is a very important step and we suggest that you double check just to be sure. You can enable it again once the entire process is complete.
3. Check device status
This might feel a bit weird to you, but we strongly suggest that you follow this step also. In order to ensure that nothing goes wrong, please be sure to charge your device at least up to 80 percent. Next you need to ensure that you have the right OS version and finally turn off Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity also.
4. Over the air update precaution
If you have just updated your device over the air, then this is one step that you need to look into. If you haven’t updated your device OTA then simply proceed.
Now what we mean by OTA update is suppose your device was currently running on iOS 7.0.3 and you updated the device to iOS 7.0.4 directly, then this is what we are talking about.
So if you have done something like this, team evad3rs suggests that you ‘please restore your device to 7.0.4 with iTunes first.’
5. Device shut down
During the jailbreak process, if your device gets stuck somewhere, it’s safe to restart the program, reboot the device (if necessary by holding down Power and Home until it shuts down), and rerun the process.
THE JAILBREAK PROCESS
1. Connect your iOS device to the computer
2. If you are using a Mac, be sure not to run iTunes or Xcode during the entire process.
3. Now run the jailbreak tool that you downloaded from the link provided above.
4. The tool should automatically detect your device and ask you to start the process.
5. Click on jailbreak and wait for the process to do its thing, but don’t go anywhere!
6. Pay attention to the tool on your screen, it will tell you to unlock your device at some point of time.
7. Unlock your device and then tap on the evasi0n icon that appears on the screen.
8. The tool will once again do its thing so wait for this final process to get over.
9. When your device restarts, you should see Cydia as an application (wonder what’s that?).
AFTER YOU FINISH
If you followed all the above steps correctly, then you should now have a successfully jailbroken iOS device running on iOS 7. But even now, there are many things that you should not start doing just because you have a jailbroken iOS device.
If you are familiar with the jailbreak world, you might have plans to start adding some known repos and Cydia tweaks and start playing with your iOS device. But we need you to know that a majority of tweaks and apps won’t run (or wont function properly) on the latest version of iOS – iOS 7. So even though you have a jailbroken device, you should wait for some days and let the developer update these different apps and tweaks so that they work perfectly with the new jailbroken OS.
In order to ensure that you enjoy every moment on your jailbroken device, just wait for the right time and then start your customization. Also ensure that you do not download any new firmware update released by Apple as that might undo the jailbreak.
