Amidst various speculations floating during the holiday season, a new rumor has popped its head; LG is apparently working on a smart watch and sports band.
It is reported that LG is likely to release a G-Arch smart watch and G-Health fitness band at Mobile World Congress Event 2014 to be held at Barcelona in February. The wearable devices will make an appearance alongside LG G3, the company’s next flagship device.
LG has not released any official statement but they did confirm that a ‘wearable product’ was on the cards for future.
At this stage we do not have much information on the innards of both the devices, but they will most probably be in-line with the Galaxy Gear and Nike Fuel Band in terms of features. In fact earlier this year at the CES 2013 event LG had flaunted a device similar to FuelBand called the Smart Activity Tracker. LG seems very much into developing a fitness- and health-tracking wristband and a wearable smartwatch. If the rumors are true these devices will mark LG’s entry into the wearable devices market.
LG G3, which will also make its debut, is reported to be in testing and will feature a fingerprint technology similar to Apple’s Touch ID in iPhone 5S. This flagship from LG will come with support for the rumored G-Arch and G-Health. Other features rumored for LG G3 are a Quad HD display, 2.2GHz octa-core processor and would run on Android 4.4 KitKat.
As the MWC event nears we shall get our hands on more information about G-Arch and G-Health and shall keep you posted on the developments.
We would like to add that as any other rumor you have to take this one too with a pinch of salt and wait till the details unfold. We did have a rumor last summer about LG working on a Google Glass like wearable device, which never got confirmed.
