Lenovo launches the Vibe Z, their first smartphone with LTE connectivity

Lenovo have recently launched a number of smartphones in the market recently but none of them shipped with LTE connectivity. However, Lenovo seems to have realized that certain markets cannot be pierced without it, as they have officially announced the launch of their first LTE smartphone, the Vibe Z.

Specifications wise it comes with an impressive set of qualifications. The Vibe Z boasts of a 5.5-inch full HD (1920 x 1080) IPS display. It comes with a svelte and sleek 7.9mm thin body and weighs only 147 grams. Lenovo mentions in marketing terms that the Vibe Z has a “20/20 Vision display” with an impressive 400 ppi display density. Under the hood, a Qualcomm Snapdragon™ 800 Quad-core 2.2GHz processor powers it. It is complimented with a healthy 2 GB of RAM with up to 16 GB of internal storage. There is also a 13 MP rear and a 5 MP front facing camera. The Vibe Z will ship with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean right out of the box. There is no official confirmation at the moment about its Android 4.4 KitKat upgrade schedule.

Liu Jun, senior vice president, Lenovo Business Group, Lenovo seemed to be pretty excited about the launch of Vibe Z. Below is a quote from him as mentioned in the official press statement:

We created the new Vibe Z with its elegant design, high performance and custom software so that people can truly have the best smartphone experience now at the speed of LTE.

Not only that, Raj Talluri, senior vice president of product management, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc was excited too about their association with Lenovo for the launch of their first LTE smartphone.

We are proud to collaborate with Lenovo to enable the company’s first LTE smartphone. The new Vibe Z utilizes the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor with integrated LTE technology to deliver superfast web browsing and unmatched multimedia features for an outstanding user experience.

The device will retail for $549 off-contract and will be initially available in Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and the Philippines starting next month. Lenovo has not mentioned anything about its availability and release schedule in other countries for the time being. We will keep you updated as and when we get any updates from Lenovo.
