What are the best laptop models out there that can serve engineers for engineering applications? – This is the question one engineer asked and we decided to do a little research. Well, we did our magic and came out with few laptops that could serve engineers fantastically. We considered lots of things while we were making the list such as great memory, horsepower of the graphics, large screens, great design and of course – whether they are lightweight or not. These features are the most needed and the most wanted when it comes to engineers in order to reduce difficulties while handling the engineering applications. Here is the list we created:
Lenovo ThinkPad W540
I’m not a big fan of Lenovo when it comes to laptops. However, it doesn’t matter whether I like or not because Lenovo ThinkPad W540 is something engineers would want to have on their working desk. It is larger than the MacBook Pro and it weighs only 5.5 pounds. The best thing is that you can purchase it considering your needs. It comes packed with 4th gen Haswell i7 processor and packed with 32GB of RAM. This is the best version you can get and the resolution on the display is 288×1620 HD.You can choose the graphics: Nvidia Quadro or the discrete K2100 GPU. If you ask me, I would go with Nvidia. The starting price of this beast is $1600 for the entry level model.
Dell Precision XPS 15 Touch or M3800
You will not be wrong if you choose one of these laptops because they have identical specs. While others go with Dell M4800, I’ve stayed focused on these laptops. It’s lighter than other models – it weight about 4.15 pounds. It comes with everything that an engineer wants. These laptop models come equipped with a QHD option, 4th gen. Haswell Intel Core processors, Nvidia graphics and mSATA slot along with a large hard drive. The touch-screen capability is covered with Gorilla Glass which gives the touch-screen extra resistance strength. The starting price of these laptop models is $2000 (for the entry-level configurations).
As the company says, this is a portable machine that can be mostly used by engineers. Maybe Sager is not of those big-named companies and didn’t do anything so far to leave a mark in the laptop industry, but this could be the start of a great future. They are known for creating a laptop beast equipped with amazingly fast features. For those engineers who are all about power, Sager NP9570 is the perfect model for that. It is available with an Intel Core i7 Extreme Edition processor clocker at 4.0GHz Turbo. This is mostly known as a desktop processor, but it works well on this laptop also. This laptop is equipped with a great display that will give you about 1080p resolution. You can choose the graphic card by yourself – we recommend the 5GB Nvidia GeForce. The starting price is $2000.
