Two new images have appeared online, showing the Xperia Z2, codenamed Sirius, the next flagship from Sony. We have already heard a few rumors on the new flagship device, the first came just a week after the Xperia Z1 launch event.
It looks like the Xperia Z2 will stick to Sony’s phone design and we are happy to see there is not a lot of major change, at least on the front of the device, compared to the Xperia Z1 or original Z.
The side bezel on the Xperia Z2 will be non-existent, according to reports that say Sony has removed all the side-bezel making it an edge-to-edge display, similar to the LG G2.
One of the images shows a white and black Xperia Z2 side by side, we also expect Sony to reveal a purple option, considering it is one of the Japanese company’s primary colors on smartphones.
The Xperia Z2 should come with a Snapdragon 800 processor, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, a 3000mAh non-removable battery and LTE. The phone should be water resistant, like the previous two Xperia phones.
Sony has been pushing the water resistant feature even more in the past few months, releasing a Walkman in a water bottle and showcasing the Xperia Z1 in water at events.
We hope Sony has also been working on the software, leaked ROM’s and screenshots show some changes to the UI and Sony may be bringing new camera features, such as 4K video capture and 120 frames per second slow motion, onto the Xperia Z2.
Mobile World Congress will be the stage for a few flagship devices, the LG G Pro 2 is already confirmed as one device coming to the event and the Galaxy S5 is most likely going to be coming.
The HTC M8 and Xperia Z2 are still questionable, but given Samsung and LG are both coming to the event, we suspect the other Android manufacturers will follow.
