Samsung just unveiled its newest release, the Samsung Galaxy S4. Before the launch date, many have been wondering about the features of the new handset. Samsung Galaxy S3 users have been thinking if there is a need to upgrade to the higher model as soon as its specifications are revealed. We will focus on the differences of each handset and conclude later whether it’s worth an upgrade or not. We have not seen the exact Samsung Galaxy S4 yet, so these specifications are based on the report given by Samsung during the launch.
If we talk about the new Samsung Galaxy S4’s design, it doesn’t have much of a difference. The Galaxy S4 has a larger screen but is smaller than Galaxy S3, marginal. Both have the height of 136.6 mm but the latest has a wider screen at 69.88mm wide. But this new baby is thinner and lighter than the previous model, it’s as thin as 7.9mm and as light as 130g. The Galaxy S3 on the other hand is 133g and is as thick as 8.6mm.
The Samsung Galaxy S3 has a very clear 4.8 inch display while the Galaxy S4 reached a 5 inch screen display. The new model’s screen is a few points larger than the previous one. Both still possess Samsung’s trademark in its screens, the Super AMOLED technology. The previous model only has 720X1280 pixels while the Galaxy S4 increased from 360ppi to 441ppi pixel density, it now has 1080X1920 pixels. The Galaxy S3 has a variety of choices when it comes to its internal storage and is still available in the Galaxy S4; it ranges from 16GB, 32GB and 64 GB which affects its price too.
The Samsung Galaxy S4 overpowers Galaxy S3 when it comes to its processor. The Galaxy S4 is powered by the Exynos 5 Octa processor; it is an 8-core chip that is expected to be very fast. It is a 1.6GHz processor which consists of four Cortex-A15 cores and Cortex-A7 at 1.2GHz, the latter is going to be used for basic tasks and works hand in hand. It will take turns in performing its own tasks which will help in conserving and prolonging battery usage. The Galaxy S4 has a 2GB RAM, upgrading the 1GB RAM of the previous model.
The Galaxy S3 did not fail its users with its 8MP camera. However, it has increased for Galaxy S4 which has a 13MP rear camera and a 2MP front camera. The Galaxy S4 also carries the latest Android operating system, the Android Jelly Bean 4.2.2. The Galaxy S4 has several new features like Smart Pause, Smart Scroll and Air Gesture which is a first for Samsung. It is rumored that Galaxy S3 will also be upgraded and will have some changes in its features, but this still remains as a speculation until further notice.
It has the same kind of batteries but the Galaxy S4 is expected to stay longer for it is at 2600mAH compared to the 2100mAH of Galaxy S3. The battery still needs to undergo proper tests to determine its strength. Of all the new specifications of the Galaxy S4, majority of the users would have their Galaxy S3 upgraded into the latest handset. While the demand for the phone is increasing at the same time.
