Samsung Electronics definitely knows how to compete, and the first competitor it has is none but itself. The world’s largest mobile phone maker with a market share of 25.4 percent as of 2012 is definitely a force to be reckoned with. Most of its sales came from the Galaxy Note series which sold like hotcakes and which are selling more even now. We are about to compare two of Samsung greatest products, Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and Samsung Galaxy S4 which will be released to the market this month.
Galaxy Note 2 has a rounded-rectangular shape reminiscent of Samsung Galaxy S3. It has a sturdy 5.5 inch body compared to Samsung Galaxy S4’s 5 inch slimness. Even though the Note 2 seems to put off most people because the size is a little bit cumbersome, some people actually love it. It may be bigger than the original Note but its lighter and slimmer and still fits in the hands and the pocket. It finally loses out to Galaxy S4 which is exactly the perfect size and fit that people are looking for.
The Galaxy Note 2 boasts of a 5.5 inch Super AMOLED display with a screen resolution of 720 x 1280 and 267 ppi, protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 2, while the new Galaxy S4 has a 5-inch Super AMOLED display with a Full HD 1920 x 1080 resolution and 441 ppi. It has a new amazing feature called Air View and Air Gesture which lets user communicate with the phone without touching the screen. It is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3, a touch more protection than the Note 2, but hardly scratch resistant like sapphire glass.
The Galaxy Note 2 Smartphone features a Quad-Core processor, Cortex A9 which clocks at 1.6 GHz. It has a 2 GB RAM, the same as Samsung Galaxy S4. The Galaxy S4 however is packing more power with a 2 GHz Quad-core processor A15 Cortex. The Note 2 has an 8 MP camera with a 3264 x2448 resolution while the S4 boast of a whopping 13 MP rear camera. Both Smartphone has a worldwide LTE connection.
The Samsung Galaxy S4 is a clear winner when it comes to software competition. It runs with the latest version of Android, Jelly Bean 4.2.2 for a slicker and faster web browsing. Galaxy Note 2 runs with a 4.1 version of Jelly Bean.
Memory and Battery
The Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S4 both has 2 GB RAM and is available in 16 GB, 32 GB, and 64 GB version and expandable MicroSD to boot. The battery power packed by the Galaxy Note 2 is 3100 mAh, 500 mAh greater than Galaxy S4’s which has 2600 mAh. But considering the extra .5 inch screen difference, it still means that Samsung Galaxy S4 with it much smaller hardware will be able to last longer than Note 2 although overall both Smartphone can be considered as having above average battery power.
Although Galaxy Note 2 is one of the best Smartphone designed by Samsung, it seems that with Galaxy S4, Samsung has indeed outdone itself.
