Yes, we are talking about the same micro blogging service and social network, Twitter. As the rumors say, we may expect their music application to be launched this weekend at the Coachella music festival – a Twitter Music app. This report came from some sources close to Twitter that announced this big thing.

We had some earlier rumors about Twitter preparing its music app but I haven’t gave a single thought about it, and this so much rumored application may came in reality this weekend. According to some of the sources, Twitter was set and everything has been scheduled for today’s launching, but no sign from it until now. But don’t break your hopes right away, it may be unveiled later this weekend at the Coachella Valley and California’s Art Festival.

This rumor came out right after Twitter has announced that they have acquired a music service called “We Are Hunted”. Right after that, on the press conference someone has said that maybe it will be followed by music application and here we are on the edge of it. “We are Hunted” is a streaming service for music and it was acquired by Twitter yesterday. Some reports said that this service was already integrated with Twitter’s music products and it was just a matter of time when this will happen. The terms was undisclosed and from Twitter didn’t give any more details about the acquisition.

Twitter logo

We are Hunted is created by Australian developers in 2009. It’s kind of a billboard chart for music which monitors social media, popular songs posted on blogs, BitTorrent and message boards. This Twitter music application will be suggesting songs and artists for listening based on several signals. It will be fully personalized on which accounts are followed by the user on Twitter.

Ryan Seacrest (Host on the American Idol show) has confirmed on his Twitter account the existence of the applications. He twitted that he loves the app and it shows the trending artists and the coming artists. Later on in another tweet he says that he is playing with the new music app from Twitter and about some serious party thrown with the possibility of this music streaming application.

So, three times hurray for Twitter. If this application goes viral, it will mean big step forward for the social network. After they were “robbed” by Facebook with the acquisition of Instagram, they had to do something that brings them to some other dimension. Bringing themselves in the music industry it’s the right thing to do, for now, we’ll see what happens and how it will be accepted by the users.
