HTC Butterfly S Unveiled: Features, Specs, Price

After the unveiling of a low-cost smartphone meant for the budget market, HTC strikes again but this time, with the previously rumored HTC Butterfly S. The Taiwanese manufacturer has unveiled this smartphone at a conference that was held near Taipei. This device represents the next-gen smartphone of the previous Butterfly 1080p version. Features and details about the price were unveiled, as well.

This smartphone includes a 5-inch Super LCD 1080p 3 screen that will support 440ppi. The display uses a technology that prevents scratching the display.  It’s equipped with a 2.1-mpix front-facing camera that is meant only for video calls and another 4-ultrapixel main camera. The camera supports ZOE that will organize your taken photos into a mini movie, which lasts 30 seconds.

This smartphone is equipped with front-facing BoomSound speakers that are loaded with Beats by Dr.Dre audio. According to the company, HTC Butterfly S will run on Android JB OS. Under the hood, we could notice the 1.9GHz quad-core Snapdragon processor chip along with 2GB of RAM. It comes only loaded with 16GB storage capacity but it has MicroSD slot support that enables you to upgrade the memory. It’s equipped with a 3 200 mAh battery that will give you a great battery life.

According to some reports, HTC Butterfly S will be first available in Taiwan for $767. It will be carried by carriers, too, but there are no details which of them will be the first ones. It will start selling in July in few color options: red, white and grey.

This comes after HTC Desire 200’s reveal. This smartphone is meant for the budget market and comes equipped with a 3.5-inch screen, 1GHz Qualcomm processor and 512MB of RAM. The internal storage capacity is 4GB and it will support few 3G networks. HTC didn’t mention anything about the price but we all expect to be cheap enough for budget smartphone seekers.

HTC is doing a great job with their new smartphones. One thing that will remain unanswered is why HTC is pushing the 4-mpix camera. I’m not much of a camera addict but this is considered to be the negative side in their great HTC One smartphone. I’m sure that they have a great explanation but for now, the company hasn’t said anything yet. HTC spokesman said that this company is ready to launch numerous devices this year and from what we can see, they are on the right track and following their schedule.
