Back to School Laptops: Lenovo IdeaPad U330 Touch

Like we all expected, Lenovo has upgraded its laptop line with two new touch-screen ultrabooks. The first one is called IdeaPad U330 Touch and the second is IdeaPad U430. They are expected to hit the US market this summer. The starting price is $799 but keep on mind that it might be modified right before the launch. The first model has a 13-inch screen and the second has a 14-inch screen. This is the first major difference between these two.

As for the design, it seems that the U330 hasn’t been changed a bit from its predecessors. Its measurements are 12.7 inches high, 8.8 inches wide and 0.74 inches thick. It weighs only 3.7 pounds. When you first look at this ultrabook you will notice the amazing screen. The U330 touch includes a 13-inch LCD tech and it has a 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution. The best thing about it is the touch-screen function. From what we could see, it’s quite responsive and it supports multitouch.

Under the hood, there is something that we expect to be included in all future ultrabooks. The 4th generation processor by Intel is the main power source for this device. If you want to get the maximum from it, you must order it with the Core i7 Haswell chip. There is no information regarding  if there is any integrated graphic chip but from what I heard, the GPU will be optional. Of course, Nvidia GPU will be a great fit with this fast processor. About the storage capacity, you can choose 1TB HDD. There are other options though, like 256 GB of SSD storage and Hybrid Dive capacity up to 516GB.

Of course, it will run on Windows 8 which is great fit for any touch-screen ultrabook.

There hasn’t been any official statement when we are going to see this laptop on the store shelves. We aren’t able to say anything about the performance because we still haven’t used it. However, from what I can see this must be one of the power beasts that is must have. Lenovo is a great company that provided us with some great laptops. With this new touch-screen ultrabook it has showed us that they are keeping the pace with the competition. It will definitely be worth what you pay if the price remains the same. I expect it to stay the same but anything can happen. We will do another review when we get our hands on it.
