Sony showed that they weren’t only working on their watch but on a smartphone, too. Well, this device is perhaps too big to be called a smartphone but this Sony Xperia Z has some great specs worth reviewing. It’s the biggest smartphone that came from the company and we are going to put it into the phablet series.
This is where the awesomeness starts. Xperia Z Ultra has an amazing design. The chassis is made by a combination of metallic frame and glass that can be found on the rear and front side. When you first look at it, maybe you will get a not-interested expression, but when you take it in your hands you will see that is really stylish. Sony has made it amazingly thin at only 0.26 inches.
Sony has been pushing the thin design in the last period making its Xperia Z Tablet also very thin. Of course, it’s not the thinnest phablet we’ve ever seen but with this impressive design, I will say that Sony now knows how to build a device. This phablet weighs only 212g but it feels really comfortable to hold and it’s not heavy at all.
The device comes with a 6.44-inch HD display that is big but is really amazing. The colors are really crisp and upgraded from the last smartphone we saw coming from Sony. It has the same menu buttons like the previous Xperia models.
Hardware and Camera
This device comes equipped with Wi-Fi, NFC, and Bluetooth. Under the hood, there is a 16GB storage capacity and 2GB of RAM. If you feel that you need bigger storage, Sony has thought of that and included a MicroSD slot for upgrading the memory. It includes the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor. It comes equipped with a 3,000 mAh battery that comes as a great fit for this nice packed phablet.
Sony Xperia Z Ultra comes equipped with an 8-mpix camera with improved shots under low-light condition. The performance didn’t give some impressive snapshots on daylight but like it was said, it has been improved while taking low-light shots.
You can expect great things from this power beast. The Snapdragon quad-core processor is clocked at 2.2GHz. On some tests made in power efficiency labs it performed strong and gave great results under heavy circumstances. All the reports said that the prototype was tested and they are not final.
The first thing we need to note is that this phablet comes as dust proof and water resistant. This was enabled thanks to IP58 rating certificate. It’s perfect for taking pictures under water during summer vacation. It runs on the latest Android Jelly Bean version 4.2 and comes with some pre-installed Android apps and features.
It looks like that this device was launched to be the direct competitor to the upcoming Samsung Note 3. However, if this Korean company doesn’t do anything fast, it can lose its top spot because the competition is getting stronger in the phablet market field. Sony Xperia Z will be available in Q3 and it will be launched globally right away. As it was said, you will be able to choose from three colors: purple, white and black.
