Apple’s trouble is growing as the company is struggling to keep up the pace with Android again. This time, Apple is losing its place in India and Western Europe. It was said that the latest smartphone of Samsung, the Galaxy S4, together with Android have gained 14% market share in Q1 while Apple falls down by 5%. This report came in from IDC and Android now owns 90% of the Indian market. This doesn’t sound so good for Apple.
Apple’s market share falls down to 20% in Q1 2013. Last’s year Q1 has showed 25% market share for Apple. In this quarter Android shipped 21.9 million units and this resulted in increasing the market shares to 69% from 55% in last year. From this number, Samsung rules 14.3 total unit shipments and controls 45% of the market share. Behind Samsung (Android based) there are Sony with 3.2 million units shipped, LG with 2.4 million and others with 3.9 million.
Apple is on second place with 6.2 million units shipped during the Q1 2013. This is equal to 20% in market share. If we see from up close, Apple has lost 11% in Western Europe during this quarter. According to IDC this is the result after several countries in this area have bad economics. The disposable income for the smartphone consumers was lower and the demand for these devices decreased.
Last week, IDC’s another statement gave us results from India. The numbers from there didn’t look good for Apple either. This Cupertino based company is losing its grip and really struggles to keep up with the competition. According to the report, Apple has been removed as a Top 5 smartphone manufacturer in India because of the low performance with its unit shipments during Q1. Again, Android grabs the biggest piece of the pie with amazing 90% market share.
We know from earlier that Apple has to do something if it wants to be compatible again. Lots of rumors are saying Apple will introduce few devices by fall, but this company keeps its plans really secretively. According to some analysts, iOS 7 will bring you new dimension while working on the iPhone. This might bring back lot of lost customers and you can just imagine what Apple can do with its next iPhone 5S. However, nothing is official yet and we still need to wait little bit longer to see some changes.
