Will the LG Optimus G2 be Unveiled in August?

We can expect a lot of smartphone devices to hit the stands this fall. The majority of the companies target August and September for releasing their next high-end devices. LG launched a new teaser video showing that something will definitely be launched in New York in August. Predictions are the new Optimus G2 will be unveiled next month so we expect the smartphone market to be tightened with another great handset.

There are no specs and visual details shown on the video, which comes after the invitations sent by LG for an August 7 event. There is nothing specific and we don’t know what we can expect from this Optimus G2 device. There has been a speculation earlier about a new LG Optimus arrival at the stores by September equipped with a 5-inch display with a 1080 pixel resolution.

This Optimus G2 was first rumored to make its debut in January at CES. We didn’t see it then and the next deadline was MWC that was scheduled for February. This is the third time we are seeing this device scheduled for a release at a specific month and we hope it’s the last. Further speculations related to this device say that it might be equipped with a 5.5-inch display and powered by a quad-core processor. It’s expected to run on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean and LG will try to surpass Samsung with this big, powerful smartphone.

The G2 predecessor, LG Optimus G, has a 13-mpix camera, a quad core processor and an extremely responsive touchscreen. It comes without a MicroSD slot and maybe in this August Optimus model we will see the possibility for external memory. Battery life was awful and drained really quick. LG must consider improving the battery life if they want to be successful. This handset is 5.2 inches tall, 0.33 inches thick and 2.7 inches wide. It’s available in both black and white color options with a great design and reminds of Samsung Galaxy S2 a bit.

With these expected measurements, LG targets the phablet market. We expect it to have the same design, maybe with slight differences, and better camera. If this company wants to keep up the pace with Samsung, it needs to do something better and include more useful features, popular among users. I hope they will launch something that will bring the company to a new level in future.
