T-Mobile’s Big Conference: What’s the Scoop?

T-Mobile’s big conference is already behind us and we promised you that we will do a roundup of what happened there. This event was held in New York City and T-Mobile announced some great features and few new handsets. Let’s get down to the main part.

This company has revealed that it’s recently launched 4G LTE network reached around 157 million users and the next goal is reaching 200 million by the end of this year. T-Mobile’s executive said that they have covered more ground since the official launch and all 22 big markets are covered to date. They were able to spread their service to 116 big cities. We remember that they were the last of the major 4 US carriers to launch the 4G LTE support and as you can see they are moving impressively fast.  The company wants to reach 200 metropolitan areas by the end of this year. Cities like Miami, Atlanta, Los Angeles, New York, San Antonio, Chicago, Boston, Dallas etc. are all covered with this fast network data.

At this event, T-Mobile announced another plan. We are talking about a family plan for $100 monthly for all no-contract users. For this amount of money, your family will get unlimited text, talk and additional 500MB of wireless data. According to the company, there won’t be any additional credit checks or contracts. People will no longer have to place credit checks to get a family plan.

When John Legere, T-Mobile CEO, has took the stands we knew that something big will be announced. He introduced a new upgrade program for your devices that will allow customers to buy the latest phones at subsidized fee. This program is called “Jump” and will enable people upgrade their old devices for new ones by paying lower price. They just need to pay $10 a month for 6 months before customers be able to get their first upgrade. T-Mobile will then credit the remaining device cost. This program can be used as insurance for your phone. According to Legere, people will finally allow people to upgrade their old devices if they accidentally drop it in a toilet.

As we’ve mentioned earlier, T-Mobile revealed a few new devices. They have announced that the expected Nokia Lumia 925 will be available for purchasing on July 17 for $49.99 down and Sony Xperia Z for $99.99 down. The Lumia 925 is the first 4G LTE device and Nokia’s latest model that includes camera with six lenses. Just to note – company’s no contract pricing means that you need to pay $50 up front and $20 for two years when you cover the whole $530 cost of this phone. The true cost of Sony Xperia Z is $580 which you can choose to pay monthly or whole fee upfront. T-Mobile updated Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 to support its fast 4G LTE data.

There you have it. This is what T-Mobile was working on for the past few months. Share with us in comments your thoughts about changes brought with this event.
