Recent reports said that Sprint Nextel Corporation emerges as the new king of spectrum with countless bandwidth available for LTE compared to national competitors. Aside from having more spectrums for LTE, it also has the largest high frequency spectrum holdings. Sprint has 205 MHz spectrum, while rival AT&T only has 105 MHz and Verizon has 99 MHz. More importantly, Sprint has more free-and-clear spectrum to deploy LTE than VZ, T and T-Mobile combined. While most is 2.5 GHz, the higher frequency increases materially since they enable carriers to form denser LTE networks, which are capable to deliver higher speeds.
What the Expert Say About Sprint Nextel Corporation?
According to Brett Feldman, the Deutsche Bank analyst, they believe that higher frequency bandwidth is viewed as valuable as the network densifies. The reason for this is they do not broadcast too far thus allowing carriers to place their sites close together without the need to create interference.
To look ahead, all carriers are expected to deploy denser cell site configurations to deliver higher data speeds. Therefore, the goal should add cell sites, and not to limit them. Feldman added that, Sprint’s interesting feature is the 2.5 GHz licenses that are not paired, which means some portions have not been designated by the FCC uplink and downlink signals. This allows Sprint to deploy the TDD LTE technology.

Instead, it energetically uses as much capacity as needed. At present, downlink signals use higher capacity than those with uplink signals. Seeing that this solution provides matching capacity to both downlink and uplink traffic, this makes the paired spectrum unproductive.
