Would LG Optimus Become Only ‘G2’?

Lots of rumors are saying that this LG will feature a 2.3GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor along with 2GB of RAM. It will be running on Android 4.2.2 JB OS and feature a 13-mpix camera. There are no details if something will be changed in the design and we will found out on August 7.

Few weeks ago, we saw a report saying that LG is set to launch its new Optimus G2 in August. As we heading towards this month, rumors and speculations are giving us right or possibly wrong expectations for the upcoming device. This new report suggests that LG is ditching the old “Optimus” and it will be calling it G2. The Optimus brand is retired after few pretty nice devices. We expect greater things to happen with this flagship device in future.

According to the company, the next high-end smartphone that will be launched during a press event in New York City next month, will be called the G2. This means that LG is heading towards new premium line of smartphone devices. August 7 will mark the debut of this new brand which they expect to build great future over it. According to the statement, LG’s vision is to make the newest devices under the “G” brand equal to excellence raising them to a lot new lever for giving users ultimate experience. Jong-Seok Park, LG CEO for Mobile Communications, added that G2 will be building its “wall” upon the previous reputation which has been established by its predecessor G line of products.

From the statement we could notice that LG is trying to rebrand the Optimus Vu smartphone devices with 4:3 aspect ratio. From now on, they will feature only the “Ve” brand. Its retired Optimus moniker was introduced 3 years ago and until now it has made many devices running on Android OS and Windows Phone.

In June, LG has sent invitations for media event the day after it has announced that its Optimus G successor will be powered by the new Snapdragon 800 processor chip by Qualcomm. Earlier this month, the company has released a video ad that didn’t offer any visual or specification detail for this new device living us wondering and what we could expect from the G2 on this media event.
