Preorders for Nexus 7 Starting from $229.99

‘Breakfast with Sundar Pichai’ was written on the invitation for the unveiling of this new Nexus 7. Just like many rumors were saying, Google has officially unveiled its new tablet device and to be honest – it looks amazing on first sight. Rumors were saying that there will be two versions of this tablet that will go for a different price and will have different features. Google today launched a 16GB Wi-Fi only version and a 32GB 4G LTE version.

As expected, Google is set to receive preorders starting from $229.99 for the 16GB Wi-Fi only model. It was announced that later this year we will see another device of this kind with 32GB and it will be available for $269.99. The 32GB version that has a support for 4G LTE will be available for $349. We realize it’s pretty expensive for a small tablet but if you look at the software and hardware specs, you will be glad to spend that much money on it.

If we are talking about key features, this new Nexus 7 has a 7-inch HD screen running on the newest Android 4.3 Jelly Bean OS. It will have two cameras a 5-mpix and a 1.2-mpix front facing camera. It’s powered by 1.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and it has 2 GB of RAM. It supports Bluetooth 4.0, HDMI output, Adreno 320 GPU and NFC. Other features included in this Nexus 7 are wireless chugging using Qi compatible charger and support for Dual band Wi-Fi.

This device is the first that supports OpenGL ES 3.0. This version includes support for HQ reflections and lens flares. Game developers will have lot of work programming these graphical features into its games before we see any bigger difference. In this Nexus 7, you will get all the new features of the new Android 4.3. With that said, you will get your hands on the best performing 7-inch tablet now.

Along with this Google has announced its Chromecast stick which pushes video right to your TV. It was announced that this Nexus 7 brings HD Netflix streaming service to Android and it launched Play Games app for Android’s social gaming. Like we mentioned earlier, Google has launched its Android 4.3 Jelly Bean OS.

This event in San Francisco didn’t unveil a new Chromebook as it was expected, but we got some other great additions. Google has said that it will start shipping the Nexus 7 by the end of this month and you can order it now from the Google Play Store.
