Up Close and Personal with the Brand New LG G2

LG can finally take a break after doing a great job for releasing its G2 device, which we are about to show you how great it is. This new device that runs on Android will make giant tech companies like Apple and Samsung sweat because its specs and features are a product killers. We said yesterday that we will give you a full review when we get our hands on this device and now it’s the right time to do that. Let’s cut to the chase and begin with our point of view for this device.

When you first look at this smartphone’s front side you couldn’t help it, but notice the beautiful sharp screen. LG G2 sports a 5.2-inch screen offering you a 1080p resolution made with IPS LCD display tech. It will give you 423 ppi that is spread right across (edge 2-edge) against the whole bezel. The display tech is equipped with dual-routing touch screen technology and still this smartphone is made amazingly light and thin. The nice addition to this touch-screen tech is that you can use it in winter whit your gloves on. Its great rounded curves and 0.3-inch thickness makes you feel comfortable while holding it. It has a glossy surface that will slight down in every tight pocket with easiness. This phone measures 2.79 inches wide and 5.45 inches tall.

This new smartphone has similarities with the Samsung Galaxy S4 when it comes to its appearance. LG did a great job making it different than the other smartphones placing the volume and sleep/power buttons on the back plate. You can find these buttons below the main camera. LG was happy to share that this position of the buttons will give you an easier experience when you want to adjust the volume while you are on a call. This could bug you off at first but after a while, you’ll get used to it and understand why LG actually did this in the first place. With all of smartphone look-a-likes we see each day, it’s nice to finally meet something new and innovative that we could take advantage of.

Hardware and Performance

Under the hood, there is something that we weren’t able to see on any other device before, as well. It includes the extremely fast quad-core 2.26 GHz Snapdragon processor by Qualcomm. It has a support for 4G LTE Advanced network which is said to be the fastest LTE version so far. Fancy processor chip isn’t the only thing that separates it from the other devices. Backing up the processor are 2GB of RAM and GRAM which is dedicated addition that will handle only the graphic cores. This makes the G2 the first phone that has this kind of ability.

We didn’t have enough time to test its full performance but based on what we could see this phone is working faster than any of the others we have tested. It opens apps and swipes home screens in a blink of an eye. We have to do deeper internal tests in order to prove this and get the proper results.

LG will release a 32GB and 16GB version of this phone and it doesn’t include a microSD card slot, so you won’t be able to upgrade its memory capacity.

Features, Interface and Software

This speed beast runs on Android 4.2.2 and right on top of Google’s built-in applications, you will get some interesting gesture and UI controls.

One of these features is Slide Aside that lets you swipe up and access the 3 most used apps. In order to see this feature, you need to swipe up with three fingers which sounds really awkward but you will eventually get used to it. Clip Tray feature can save you lots of text to use it later. You can now transfer detailed data like contact information and address into texts or e-mails on much easier way.

There are few other actions that LG G2 possesses. If you want to wake up this smartphone, simply tap two times on the touch screen. This addition is called KnockOn and if you want to put it down to sleep again just tap one more time. If you press the up volume button longer enough you will see that the phone will launch the QuickMemo app and if you press and hold the down volume button the phone will launch the camera app. QuickRemote will let you use the smartphone a remote controller right through its IR blaster placed on the top edge. Guest Mode will protect your privacy settings when a guest will use your phone by drawing a different pattern than yours.

Perhaps the best addition for many users will be the 13-mp camera. Its pictures are colorful and sharp. The camera app comes include an optical image stabilization, dual front and back camera modes that can be used for videos and sills and an 8x digital zoom. The camera also has few shooting modes like burst shot, panorama and beauty shoot mode.

All in all, this powerful phone will be a real blockbuster deal when it comes to the market. The price and release date are still unknown but it will be available for all major U.S carriers and according to the company, there will be only one model for every market globally.
