Nokia has been rumored for upgrading its Lumia lineup by introducing the Nokia Lumia 1520. There are many rumors suggesting this will happen in few weeks from now but Nokia still keeps this information well sealed. New leaked image shows this handset sitting alongside the Lumia 1020 and from what we could see, it’s way bigger than its companion. Nokia hasn’t confirmed anything yet but it didn’t reject the rumors for this big screen device that goes under the codename Bandit.
This handset could be brought up on the market in order to compete with the latest phablet by Samsung. This picture leaked on The Verge’s forum posted by a member. From the image, we can clearly see the Nokia Lumia 1020 alongside the new big-screened phone which has the rumored measures of the Lumia 1520. This picture doesn’t reveal anything specific about its features or specifications other than its measurements. Both devices on the screen are placed side by side with switched on display.
Although the Lumia 1020 has a 4.5-inch display, this new expected phablet looks bigger than it. Reportedly, it will include the biggest screen ever seen on a Lumia device. Before this, we’ve seen @evleaks suggesting that the Nokia device codenamed Bandit will be available on the market as Nokia Lumia 1520.
According to some previous rumors, Nokia was said to be testing a brand new device with a 6-inch screen running updated Windows Phone 8 OS. This device, codenamed Bandit, offers full HD 1080p resolution and it’s powered by Qualcomm’s quad-core Snapdragon processor. It’s also reported that this phablet will feature a 20-mpix main camera and borrow the same design features of the Lumia 925 in order to finalize the camera.
From the latest rumors, this device is supposed to wait for Microsoft to roll out its GDR3 update before it can get released. It was reported that Microsoft is already into the testing phase for this Windows Phone 8 GDR3 update.
The phablet market has being growing really fast year by year. We’ve seen lots of companies trying to develop a device that will have the measurements of a small tablet with phone capabilities and make a room for itself in this new market area. Samsung already has set its own phablet line with the Galaxy Note devices and it’s on the verge of releasing an upgrade, Galaxy Note 3, on September 4. We will see what will be Nokia’s answer to Samsung.
