For those interested in the detailed specs, check out the list at the end of the post.
We have good news for consumers planning to buy a small sized tablet. If you have been looking out for an option apart from the Apple iPad Mini and the Google Nexus 7, then LG has something new to offer. It’s the new LG G Pad 8.3 Android based tablet, and the best part is that the device is equipped with top class hardware and software making it a premium small sized tablet to carry with you.
Coming to the technical specifications, the LG G Pad 8.3 has an 8.3-inch full HD display as the name suggests. It has a screen resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels making it a much better option over the Apple iPad Mini, if operating system is not that important to you. The LG G Pad 8.3 is equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 chipset and is powered by a 1.7GHz quad-core processor, Adreno 320 GPU and has 2GB of LPDDR2 RAM. The tablet comes with 16GB of internal storage and we expect it to have a microSD card support for storage expansion as well. LG has not clarified whether the tablet has a microSD card slot, but we will update you when we get the official information.
Other important features include a 5MP primary camera and a 1.3MP front facing camera. The G Pad 8.3 runs on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean right out of the box and a 4600mAh battery keeps the lights on. We do not have the official stats for battery life but expect LG to give out their official numbers soon as well.
Now for those who care a lot about the weight and size of their devices, the LG G Pad 8.3 weighs 338 grams and its dimensions are 216.8 x 126.5 x 8.3 mm. These values do make the tablet a bit heavier than the Apple iPad Mini and the new Google Nexus 7, but remember that the screen size and battery is what adds to the extra weight.
As of now, LG has not even specified whether the tablet will be available as Wi-Fi only or whether there will be a 3G and/or LTE model as well. When we have all the information, we will review the tablet for you as well as compare it with the Apple iPad Mini and the Google Nexus 7. But for now, take a look at the key specifications of the LG G Pad 8.3.
