New Acer Iconia A3 to be Introduced at IFA 2013

As we are entering the era of tablets, Acer wants to try again releasing a brand new Acer Iconia A3 device. This tablet is supposed to be announced at IFA trade show and we hope Acer did a good job this time. The company expects this tablet to be a strong competitor on the market, bringing them on upper levels. Acer was the first company that announced a new device, somewhat representing the start of this year’s annual IFA event which is taking place in Berlin. Many companies are expected to hit the stands with new devices and the loudest here is Samsung that might launch its new Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy Gear smartwatch.

Acer is entering the 10-inch tablet market launching this device. The Iconia A3 tablet will sport a 10-inch display and fires directly at Apple’s iPad. The display offers low resolution though, with 1,280 x 800 pixels. It has great DD Plus speakers that are offering amazing music and movie sound. The design is really great, sporting a good silver-trimmed casing which is really thick (0.39 inches).

Under the hood, the device is powered by a 1.2GHz A7 quad-core Cortex processor. This is more than enough for a tablet of this kind and we can say that Acer could do better but it will still offer you a decent speed while performing various tasks. It has micro HDMI port and MicroSD card slot for expanding its storage capacity. The tablet has a 5-mpix camera that will take pictures with an average quality, which is enough for a device of this caliber. We will have the full camera performance details when we will get our hands on it and perform some tests.

It runs on Android 4.2 software and it’s equipped with all features that an Android-based tablet should have.

The model with Wi-Fi support will come to Africa, Middle East and Europe in October. The 3G version is expected to follow in November. The first version costs €249 ($330) and the second version, 3G version, costs €299 ($395). The price of this device for the U.S is still unknown.

We are excited to see what will tech giant offer at this year’s IFA. We will give you the first look of every important device and do a final wrap-up of what you need to know after this event ends. Stay tuned.
