Sony has officially announced a new version of its next-gen portable handheld gaming console – the Sony PlayStation Vita. The announcement was recently made at the SCE Japan press conference, where the company unveiled the second generation of the Sony PlayStation Vita.
We have some great news for portable gaming console fans – the new Sony PlayStation Vita is here. And the good part is that the portable handheld console is 20 percent thinner and 15 percent lighter than the previous generation of Vita. This is a great move from Sony, and the company has once again managed to come up with a better version of something that was already good.
The original Sony PlayStation Vita was a great device, but it did have considerable weight and thickness. So in spite of being a portable device, some consumers might have been uncomfortable with these stats, but now the new PS Vita is here, you should check it out. Sony is well known for continuously trying to improve and enhance its gaming consoles, and the company has been doing the same to its handheld as well as standard consoles.
The Sony PlayStation One (PSX), PlayStation 2 (PS2). PlayStation 3 (PS3) as well as the Sony PlayStation Portable (PSP) have been updated and improved by the company. And now, the latest version of gaming console, the PS Vita gets the lift up. As mentioned earlier, Sony has managed to reduce the weight and thickness, but at the same time the company has changed the screen on the device. So instead of the OLED display present in the previous model, the new PlayStation Vita has an LCD display.
The list of good features does not end here, because the new Sony PlayStation Vita also comes with improved battery life. Instead of the regular 5 hours you will be able to get up to 6 hours of battery backup. The device also comes with 1GB of internal storage and the company has announced a new 64GB memory card that will have a better price. As of now, these memory cards will be available in Japan only, but international availability should not be a problem whatsoever.
By the way, the list of good features still does not end here. The new Sony PlayStation Vita does not use the proprietary connector from Sony; instead it uses the standard microUSB port making it easier to use and find chords and cables etc. The new PS Vita will be available in a number of colors, six to be precise – Black, White, Gray, Blue, Yellow and Pink.
The list is finally over, at least according to us. So be sure to check out the new Sony PS Vita and let us know what you feel about it. The Wi-Fi only version of the new PS Vita device will be available in Japan from the 10th of October and will be priced at 18,980 Yen. There is no official word about when the device will be available internationally.
