Blackberry has officially unveiled its new flagship device, the Blackberry Z30. The Blackberry Z30 runs on Blackberry 10.2 right out of the box and is the company’s new attempt to get back market share in the smartphone segment. Will this next-gen Blackberry smartphone be able to attract consumers to the Blackberry platform or will it end up being just another smartphone?
The Blackberry Z30 is out, but before we begin to dig into the specs and features of the device, there is something you need to know. The Blackberry Z30 is the new flagship device of the company but it has a lot of resemblance to the Blackberry Z10. The Blackberry Z30 has the same 5-inch display, 720p resolution, 8MP camera, 2MP camera and a dual-core processor.
Coming to the spec sheet, the Blackberry Z30 has a 5-inch Super AMOLED display with a screen resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels. The device is powered by a 1.7GHz dual-core processor, Adreno 320 GPU and has 2GB of RAM. The device comes with 16GB of internal storage and has a microSD card slot that supports cards up to 64GB. The Blackberry Z30 has an 8MP primary camera with auto-focus and LED flash. The camera comes with a f/2.2 lens and supports 1080p video recording.
So on paper, the Blackberry Z30 might just seem to be a tuned up version of the Blackberry Z10, but there have been a number of improvements on the inside. Most importantly, the Z30 runs on the latest version of Blackberry OS – BB 10.2, but we doubt if this would make a major difference to consumers.
The Blackberry Z30 is expected to be available in UK by next week, but as of now there is no official information about the pricing or availability. But we do know that the Blackberry 10.2 OS update will be rolled out for the Z10 and Q10 in October.
