It has hardly been a few since Google gave away the name of its new version of Android operating system – Android 4.4 KitKat. But it seems that sources on the Internet have been busy trying to get their hands on as much information about the OS as possible. The reason for saying this is because they have successfully been able to get their hands on a Google Nexus 4 smartphone running on Android 4.4 KitKat.

Google literally surprised the entire world when the company unveiled the newest version of Android operating system. Since a long time, we all have been looking forward to Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie but Google came up with Android 4.4 KitKat instead. We definitely were surprised but not disappointed, because android 5.0 Key Lime Pie could still be on its way. But for now let us focus on Android 4.4 KitKat.
The version number (4.4) itself suggests that Android KitKat will not be a completely new operating system. Even though the OS gets a new name, a lot of things on the inside will either remain same but with a new design or will be improved a little bit. And some of these changes have already been showcased in these leaked images. You can see the redesigned phone dialer and messaging app, but the home screen and settings part is almost identical to Android 4.3 Jelly Bean.
We were excited to be able to take a look at these images but we also need to tell you that these images might not be the real deal. We do not exactly want to say that they are fake, just that they could be images taken from a prototype or test version. These UI changes definitely convey that the operating system is Android, but we still can’t take it for granted that it’s Android 4.4 KitKat for sure.

But there are a lot of positive points we need to consider. First of all, the device showcased in these images happens to be the Google Nexus 4, a smartphone that has always been the test device for upcoming Android operating systems. So there is a very high possibility that the images are legit (even though we earlier said that they might not be the real deal), and secondly, Google is expected to unveil its new flagship device and the latest addition to the Nexus series of smart devices – the Google Nexus 5.
If you are looking for a date, you will have to wait for some more time. But there have been reports saying that Google will be unveiling the Nexus 5 and a new version of Nexus tablet sometime in October. Android 4.4 KitKat and Google Nexus 5 sounds like a cool combination and will most definitely attract a number of fans and consumers. So that’s what we are looking forward to, what are your opinions about this combo? Let us know in the comments below.
