LG has officially announced its 10 million sales target for the LG G2 smartphone that was recently unveiled by the company. The LG G2 is a next-gen Android smartphone and also the company’s new flagship device. If you have earlier heard about rumors saying that LG had a target of 10 million sales for the LG G2, you will be happy to know that it isn’t a rumor anymore.
An LG Taiwan official has confirmed that the company has set a target of shipping at least 10 million units of the LG G2 all around the world. We are pretty sure that the company is talking about channel sales, but either way it still means that LG moves out 10 million LG G2 handsets that are out in the market (in the hands of consumers or on the store shelves).
In addition to the global target for the LG G2, an LG spokesperson also said that the company plans to sell 20,000 units of the new flagship device every month in Taiwan. It has been said that LG is aiming to have at least a 5 percent market share in the overall smartphone market and a 10 percent market share in the high-end smartphone segment. Considering the fact that LG has a wide range of entry and mid-segment smartphones, it could be easy to reach the 5 percent market share target, but in the high-end segment, the company will have to compete against giants like Samsung and Apple, as well as other manufacturers like Nokia and HTC.
So we know what the South Korean smartphone manufacturer is looking to achieve, and we look forward to how the company performs. We are mainly interested in the sales figures of the LG G2, one of the best high-end smartphones available in the market today. The LG G2 will have to put up a tough fight in order to compete against the recently unveiled Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and the soon to be announced HTC One Max. Will the LG G2 be able to attract new consumers or will the new range of Samsung Galaxy devices be too powerful to handle?
