Grand S and Nubia 5 From ZTE to Be Preordered Starting This Saturday


Starting this Saturday, two new phones from ZTE will be available for preorders. According to reports, ZTE USA will have their new Grand S and Nubia 5 via preorders before its initial release. These are smartphones that are unlocked and packed with high quality features and specs with a cheaper price compared to other giant mobile phone manufacturers. However, ZTE USA did not announce anything about the phones’ exact shipping dates.

Grand S and Nubia 5: Two Phones With Same Amazing Specs Sheet

The Grand S will be available at $400 while the Nubia 5 will be sold for $450. These prices are way below its unlocked phone competitors that feature same specs and features.

The ZTE Grand S and Nubia 5 will have the same screen size of five inches. Aside from that, they will both run on an Android 4.1 OS “Jelly Bean” with 1.5 Gigahertz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragron chips. It also has 2MP front camera and a 13MP rear camera. The Grand S and Nubia 5 will be with GSM carriers which also include T-Mobile US and AT&T. However, this also means that the two new phones will not be capable of LTE connectivity.


Size and Style Matters: Grand S to Be the Slimmest Phone in the US

The biggest difference between the Grand S and Nubia 5 lies in their sizes. The Grand S will be the slimmest mobile phone to be sold in the US this Saturday. It will measure an amazing 0.27 inch thick. The Nubia 5 will have dimensions of 5.43 x 2.71 x 0.30 inches which makes it slightly shorter and thicker compared to the dimension of Grand S (5.59 x 2.72 x 0.27 inches).  They also have differences in terms of their batteries. The Nubia 5 which is more expensive will have a 2300 mAh battery while the Grand S will be powered by a 1780 mAh battery. According to the company’s CEO, Lixin Cheng, the Grand S will cater the needs of design-conscious customers because of its elegance, style and openness. Cheng also added that smartphones today should be also be emotionally and physical convincing aside from amazing specs and features. The company is looking forward in producing more stylish and spec-filled mobile phones in the future.

ZTE: Still a Way to Go for the Top Spot in the US Phone Market

The ZTE company is still small yet an upcoming smartphone vendor in the US market. At the end of 2012, the company tallied a 4.4% share of the smartphone market in the US. That made the company the fourth largest in the US following Samsung, Apple and Huawei. There is a tight race between ZTE and Huawei in terms of sales according to some reports.
