The Sony Xperia Z1 has a 5-inch touchscreen display with a full HD screen resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels and a 441 ppi pixel density. The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 has a 5.7-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display. The screen has a full HD 1080 x 1920 pixels display resolution with a pixel density of 386 ppi. The display on the Galaxy Note 3 is also protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3.

The Sony Xperia Z1 is equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset and is powered by a 2.2GHz Krait 400 quad-core processor, Adreno 330 GPU and 2GB of RAM. The Xperia Z1 is also equipped with the Sony Mobile BRAVIA Engine 2.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset. The device is powered by a 2.2GHz quad-core processor, Adreno 330 GPU and has 3GB of RAM. The Note 3 is the first smart device from Samsung to feature 3GB of RAM, raising the bar for all other smartphone manufacturers.

OPERATING SYSTEM
The Sony Xperia Z1 runs on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean right from start. So consumers do not have to worry about updating their devices, not at least till Android 4.4 KitKat is out in the market.

The Sony Xperia Z1 comes with 16GB of internal storage and a microSD card slot that supports storage expansion by up to 64GB. So you get 64GB more if you get your hands on a 64GB microSD card.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 comes with 32 and 64 GB of internal storage, and also has a microSD card slot using which you can expand storage by up to 64GB. Hence storage expansion is an easy option and can be done as and when you wish.

CAMERA
The Sony Xperia Z1 has a 20.7MP with autofocus and LED flash. The camera has a sensor size of 1/2.3” and supports features like touch focus, face detection, image stabilization, HDR and panorama. The Xperia Z1 comes with a 2MP front facing camera.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 has a 13MP primary camera and a 2MP secondary camera. The primary camera comes with features like autofocus, LED flash, touch focus, geo-tagging, face and smile detection, image stabilization, HDR and most importantly support 2K as well as 4K video recording.

BATTERY
The Sony Xperia Z1 has a massive non-removable Li-Ion 3000mah battery. The device is expected to give a talk time of 14 hours of talk time on 2G and 15 hours on 3G.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 has an even higher capacity Li-Ion battery, 3200mAh to be specific. We do not have the battery performance stats for the Note 3 either, but considering the way in which the Note 2 went on and on, the Note 3 should perform no different.

DIMENSIONS
The dimensions of the Sony Xperia Z1 are 144 x 74 x 8.5 mm whereas the dimensions of the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 are 151.2 x 79.2 x 8.3mm.

WEIGHT
The Sony Xperia Z1 weighs 170 grams whereas the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 weighs 168 grams.

CONCLUSION
This battle very much seems to be one sided. If you check out the winner of every section mentioned above, the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 will seem to you as the obvious winner. But that’s not exactly the case.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is definitely a powerful smartphone, but the Sony Xperia Z1 has unique advantages of its own. The Xperia Z1 has a much better camera and in addition to this, you can also attach after market lens that Sony offers. Also, the Sony Xperia Z1 is a dust proof and water resistant smartphone, so you don’t really have to worry about dust or spills.

So it’s obvious that the Xperia Z1 puts up a very good fight. It also offers an identical chipset, so power and performance is not exactly an issue. Now let’s check out the advantages that the Galaxy Note 3 has over the Xperia Z1.
