Samsung Galaxy Note 3 – the perfect example of smartphone upgrade

Samsung Galaxy Note 3, the new smartphone in the Galaxy Note series is out and its breaking records with its superior build and technology. The phablet is the first phone to be boasting a 3GB RAM, the first phone to record videos at 4k and the first phone with MicroUSB 3.0 charging port!

These are just a few of its stunning features that put together a masterpiece of a smartphone. For any person, the Samsung Galaxy S4 might be the company’s top selling flagship smartphone, but from a pure hardware standpoint, the Note 3 is king of the mountain.

The phablet has a stunning 5.7-inch full HD Super AMOLED display with a 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution and 396ppi pixel density displaying a whooping 16 million colors! Each and every color on the screen jumps out making images look alive. Another small detail that hasn’t been spoken of much is the fact that the screen can be used while wearing gloves.

Due to the large screen, consumers might be worried about battery drainage but with a 3200mAh beast of a battery there isn’t much to worry or complain. Battery usage may differ from person to person but at the end of a full day’s charge, for a medium to heavy power user this battery does a pretty decent job. Additional to the battery, a MicroUSB 3.0 charging port helps get the charge back up faster. If only there was a battery 3.0 which lasted longer.

The design of the Note 3 sees a big upgrade as compared to its junior the Galaxy Note 2. With a back cover that looks like faux-leather and a grooved metal rim that wraps around the circumference of the phone, the Note 3 is definitely different. This makes the premium phone feel a lot more premium.

As we get into the internals, the unrivaled 3GB of RAM on this smartphone means that it can run the heaviest of software in a smooth and composed manner. The 3GB of RAM accompanied by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core 2.3GHz processor and Adreno 330 graphic processing unit does a beautiful job at smoothly running the resource heavy display and software.

The Galaxy Note 3 comes out of the box with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean along with its TouchWiz interface that runs buttery smooth. Along with TouchWiz, a number of applications come pre-installed on the phone that gives the user endless possibilities. Applications like Air command, Multi Window, My Magazine with Flipboard, S Health, S Note, Group Play and more along with the S Pen stylus and companion software/apps provide an additional level of functionality that will make power users and productivity hounds drool. It might quite possibly feel that the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 packs too much functionality into one device and this is the reason, any person who understands the phone completely can take full advantage of its magnificent power.

The camera is also improved as compared to the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 which had an 8MP rear facing camera which is now bumped up to 13MP. The front facing camera is still the same at 2MP for video calls and selfies. The camera comes with a massive set of options and settings to help you take the best picture. Some of the new features are Drama shot, Sound and shot, Surround Shot, Golf Swing mode, etc. Video recording is now possible at 4k which means amazingly clear videos at 1080p.

From top to bottom, the Note 3’s spec sheet reads like that of an undisputed champion:
