It seems that Samsung has been working on a new and improved version of the Galaxy S4 Active smartphone. Recently, diagrams and leaked specs of this new model have surfaced on the Internet.
If you though that Samsung is all done with the Galaxy S4 series of smartphones, then its time to think again! We all knew that Samsung had been working on a newer version of the standard Galaxy S4 handset, but one with LTE-A support and hence the Snapdragon 800 chipset.
But the company has not forgotten to take care of one of the most important variants of the Galaxy S4, the Samsung Galaxy S4 Active. If you have been thoroughly following the Galaxy S4 series, you will know that some months ago, a Snapdragon 800 equipped Galaxy S4 Active smartphone had been spotted in benchmark scores. But now, a leaked document of this new handset has surfaced on the Internet and it gives out a lot of information about the upcoming Galaxy S4 Active.
So coming to the technical specifications you should expect in the new and improved Galaxy S4 Active, not much has actually changed. To start with, the new version will have the exact same dimensions and we assume that it will have the same weight as well. And if you were expecting the device to have a Super AMOLED display like the standard model, then you will be disappointed to know that the new Galaxy S4 Active also has an LCD display. The device will have a 5-inch display and flaunt a full HD screen resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels.
The new Galaxy S4 Active will also have hardware buttons and the IP67 certification (which ensures that the device will be dust proof and water resistant) and the same 2600mAh battery. The only major difference is that the new version of S4 Active will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset instead of the Snapdragon 600 chipset present in the earlier model. This also means that the new handset will have support for LTE-Advanced, thanks to the new chipset.
There have been rumors that this new smartphone will be available in South Korea on SKT and will have the model number SHV-E470S. As of now, there is no information available about the availability and pricing of the device. But if you are a fan of tough smartphones, you definitely need to check this one out.
By the way, it would have been great if Samsung swapped the 8MP primary camera for a high performance 13MP camera that has already been used in the standard Galaxy S4. But even though the company has managed to swap the chipset, we doubt if there would be any extra space and resources inside the casing in order to fit the new camera.
