Korean smartphone manufacturer Samsung has officially unveiled its new curved display smartphone. The smartphone has been named as the Samsung Galaxy Round and has specs very similar to the Samsung Galaxy Note 3.
Since some days, there have been a number of reports claiming that Samsung and LED will be unveiled their curved/flexible display smartphones in the month of October. And just a few days down the line, Samsung has pulled off the curtain! The Samsung Galaxy Round is official, but we do not know whether this is the smartphone that we all have been waiting for.
At first, the Samsung Galaxy Round might seem to be pretty attractive and interesting, of course it is. But we are more interested in taking a look at the new features and possibilities that the smartphones brings to the table. Logically speaking, the Galaxy Round looks as if the Galaxy Note 3 was curved a little (using some kind of machine or magic may be), and it’s no time to check out the smartphone in detail.
To start with, let us check out the available technical specifications and key features listed out by Samsung. The Samsung Galaxy Round has a 5.7-inch touchscreen display with a full HD screen resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels. Not to our surprise, the device is equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset. So we know that the device will be fast, very fast! The Galaxy Round is powered by a 2.3GHz quad-core processor, Adreno 330 GPU and has 3GB of RAM. It’s interesting to see that Samsung is using 3GB of RAM in all of its high-end smartphones, but for consumers, it depends on how much RAM they actually have at their disposal.
The Galaxy Round comes with internal storage options of 16 and 32GB, and there is a microSD card using which you can expand storage as and when you want. On the back of the device, is the 13MP primary camera with autofocus and LED flash, and on the front is a 2MP secondary camera for video calls etc.
The Samsung Galaxy Round is as big as the Galaxy Note 3, but still has a lesser capacity battery. So unlike the 3200mAh high capacity battery present in the Galaxy Note 3, the Galaxy Round has a decent 2800mAh battery. We do not have the official figures for battery backup and performance, so we will have to wait for some time.
So there you have it, the all new Samsung Galaxy Round. A smartphone with a curved display, and almost all features similar to the Samsung Galaxy Note 3. But the major differences are that the Galaxy Round does not have the S-Pen feature and is almost twice as costly as the Note 3.
Are you interested in this new smartphone, or would you still prefer to opt for smart devices like the Galaxy Note 3, Galaxy S4 or even the iPhone 5S for that matter? Let us know in the comments below. But before you do that, be sure to take a quick look at the key specifications of the Galaxy Round.
