Samsung officially unveils the Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 – Check out the new specs and features

We have great news for consumers who have been waiting for the next-gen line up of Android phablets – Samsung has officially unveiled its most powerful tablet, the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 has been cleverly named in order to differentiate itself from the already existing Galaxy Note 10.1, the 2013 model. But apart from the name, there is hardly anything that is common between the two tablets. And yes, the changes are for good and improve the overall quality and value of the device.

The most important thing that you should know right away us that the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 really isn’t any of the tablets that you have used or find people carrying around every now and then. We think that this is the very first Android tablet that will actually attract power users and allow them to have fun using it. And in order to truly unleash the full potential of this tablet, you really need to be a power user, and if you are not, you should either become one or let the tablet convert you into one.

Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 - 1

So let us actually start checking out the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 and find out how much work and efforts Samsung has really put into making this one. We mentioned earlier that you need to be a power user in order to fully use this new tablet, but it does not mean that regular consumers should stay away from it. In fact, regular consumers will be blown away with the specs and features that this tablet offers and would be happy to keep on discovering every new feature now and then as time passes by.

Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014
As the name suggests, the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 is the new flagship Android tablet from Samsung for this year. It represents the best in the market and for now will be the leader of the Samsung Galaxy Note series of tablets.

Hardware Configuration
The Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 has a 10.1-inch TFT LCD touchscreen display with a screen resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels. Compare this resolution with the Apple iPad Retina display’s 2048 x 1560 pixels and you will know who’s the winner. We really liked the display and the crisp clear clarity it provides, but we would have loved to check out the tablet with a Super AMOLED display, mainly because of the excellent black levels rendered by Super AMOLED.

With the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S4, the company has been coming up with multiple variants of its high-end smart devices. Samsung uses the Exynos 5 chipset in 3G models whereas the LTE models are powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 series.

So the 3G model of Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 is equipped with the latest Samsung Exynos chipset. The tablet is powered by two quad-cores that take control as and when required, depending upon the task at hand. There is a 1.9GHz quad-core Cortex-A15 processor and a 1.3GHz quad-core Cortex-A7 processor. The graphics on the system are taken care of by the Mali-MP6 GPU and there is 3GB of RAM which ensures that there are no lags in performance whatsoever.

But as we come to the LTE model, things get even better. The tablet is equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset and is powered by a 2.3GHz quad-core processor, Adreno 330 GPU and also has 3GB of RAM.

The new Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 comes with internal storage options of 16GB and 32GB only, there is no 64G version (not that you really need one). And even if you do feel that 32GB is not enough, you can expand storage up to 64GB, courtesy of the microSD card support provided by the tablet. So at best, you can have 96GB of storage, which we feel is pretty good.

The tablet has an 8MP primary camera with autofocus and LED flash and a 2MP front facing camera. The primary camera comes equipped with features like geo-tagging, face and smile detection as well as a number of modes for taking pictures creatively.

Considering the amount of work you can do with the help of this tablet, it is very much important for the Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 to deliver excellent battery backup. Samsung has already considered this point, and as a result have equipped the device with a non-removable Li-Ion 8220mAh battery. This battery gives a battery backup of up to 10 hours.
So thanks to the efforts put in by Samsung, the new Galaxy Note 10.1 is finally able to catch up with the 10 hour milestone that was set by the Apple iPad long time.

As you must have already guessed, the new Galaxy Note 10.1 runs on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean right out of the box. And similar to the recently unveiled Galaxy Note 3, the Note 10.1 comes with the S-Pen and a number of S features and apps pre-installed as part of the OS. The tablet also uses Samsung’s TouchWiz UI, and it is as smooth as on the Galaxy Note 3.
For connectivity, there is Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, dual-band, Wi-Fi Direct, Wi-Fi hotspot and more. The tablet also provides support for GPRS, EDGE and HSDPA.

Similar to the Samsung Galaxy Note 3, the Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 edition comes with the Samsung S-Pen. So this also means that you get to use S-Pen and access Air Commands that have proved to be quite impressive on the Note 3.
There are five Air Command functions:
• Pen Window, which, like Ofelia in Pan’s Labyrinth, lets you scrawl a square or rectangle door on the GNote14 screen into which then magically pops a menu of seven compatible apps that, when you tap one, appears in that drawn picture-in-picture window.
• S Finder, an extensive universal (device and web) search tool, which also lets you hand-write symbols as part of your search.
• Screen Write, which enables you to choose from a variety of stylus line thicknesses and colors to draw or write on any screen, then save and/or share that screen.
• Scrapbooker, which lets you circle and clip segments from any screen for saving and/or sharing.
• Action Memo, which lets you scrawl handwritten notes and can translate scrawled email addresses and Web URLs into actual usable email address and URLs.

If you are a power user, then this will definitely be one of the most important features for you in this tablet. As mentioned earlier, the new Galaxy Note 10.1 with the Samsung S-Pen, allowing you to use the device screen for almost anything and everything you can think of! No need to carry your notebooks or drawing papers to events like meetings and brainstorming anymore.
So if you though that the Note 2 or Note 3’s screen was not big enough for your workspace, then you have a new and much better option, of course you will have to pay for it separately.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 is available in two different color options and two internal storage options. You can choose between the Black or White color option and 16GB or 32GB of internal storage. The 16GB version has been priced at $549.99 whereas the 32GB version can be yours for $599.99. We strongly suggest that if you can afford to spend that extra $50, then it is definitely worth getting the 32GB version. Storage expansion is always an option in Samsung smart devices, but that extra storage space will definitely help you avoid internal storage shortage in the future.
But wait, if you are planning to get this tablet some time soon, then you will be happy to know that Samsung is offering some goodies with the deal. You will get some Google Play credit that you can use to get some cool stuff from the online store. Here are the details – $25 for apps and $50 for movies and TV shows.

Last but not the least, we have the list of specs and features of this new tablet that you might be interested in. So here’s a quick look at the new Note 10.1 once again.
