Today we check out the mid-segment phablet unveiled by Nokia, the Nokia Lumia 1320. The Lumia 1320 is one of the newest additions to the Nokia Lumia family of smart devices and will definitely make consumers happy and get them interested.
At the Nokia special event, the company unveiled its new flagship phablet, the Nokia Lumia 1520 and its new mid-segment phablet, the Lumia 1320. The Lumia 1320 borrows a number of specs and features from the flagship phablet, and we are ready and excited to present the specs and features of this phablet for you.
So how good is the Nokia Lumia 1320? Has Nokia come up with a winner or is the Lumia 1320 just another phablet that will lose its shine over time? You are the final judge, but for now, let us check out the phablet in detail.
Nokia Lumia 1320
The Nokia Lumia 1320 has a 6-inch HD ClearBlack IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display. The display on the Lumia 1320 is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3 (a level higher than the one present on the Lumia 1520) and comes with a number of added features including High Brightness Mode, Sunlight readability, Super sensitive touch and more. The phablet has a screen resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels with a pixel density of 245 ppi (pixel per inch).
The Nokia Lumia 1320 is equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 chipset. The Lumia 1320 is powered by a 1.7GHz dual-core Krait processor, Adreno 330 GPU and has 1GB of RAM.
The Lumia 1320 might not seem to be as powerful as the Lumia 1520, but it definitely will offer speed and performance that will exceed your expectations.
Like every other Nokia Lumia smartphone, the Nokia Lumia 1320 runs on Microsoft Windows Phone 8 operating system. The phablet will run on the latest version of Windows Phone 8, i.e. with the latest updates.
So you can expect a lot of changes and improvements in the operating system that should improve and enhance your overall user experience. The new version of OS also brings bigger and better Tiles onto your home screen.
The Nokia Lumia 1320 comes with only 8GB of internal storage. So before you decide to buy the Lumia 1320, you should know that you will only have 8GB of storage.
But if you are okay with expanding storage later as and when you wish, and if the external storage is able to meet your needs, then the Lumia 1320 will be a winner because it has a microSD card slot that supports cards up to 64GB.
The Nokia Lumia 1320 has a 5MP primary camera with autofocus and LED flash, and a front facing VGA camera. The primary camera provides support for features like geo-tagging and touch focus and has a sensor size of 1/4″. You will be able to record 1080p videos with the primary camera and VGA resolution videos with the front camera.
Even though Nokia has compromised with the internal storage capacity and camera on the Lumia 1320, the phablet still has the exact same battery as the Lumia 1520.
The Nokia Lumia 1320 is equipped with a non-removable high capacity Li-Ion 3400mAh battery. The battery is expected to give up to 25 hours of talk time on 2G and up to 21 hours of talk time on 3G. You can also expect a total standby time of up to 672 hours on 2G as well as 3G.
DIMENSIONS and WEIGHT
The dimensions of the Nokia Lumia 1320 are 164.2 x 85.9 x 9.8 mm. The phablet weighs about 220 grams, which might seem to be a bit heavy, but you will get used to the weight. And anyways, a number of consumers prefer devices that feel heavy in the hands, so it’s more of a personal preference.
COLOR OPTIONS and PRICE
Like every other Lumia smartphone, the Nokia Lumia 1320 will also be available in a variety of cool and lively color options. You are free to choose from yellow, red, white, and black.
The Nokia Lumia 1320 is expected to be priced at $339 before taxes and subsidies. The phablet will be available first in China and Vietnam after which it will be available in Asian and European regions.
The Nokia Lumia 1320 is definitely a mid-segment phablet, but we are happy with the offerings from Nokia. We definitely did love the Lumia 1320, but we will honestly tell you about the pros and cons of the phablet.
The Nokia Lumia 1320 has a clear display, powerful chipset and a very high capacity battery. But on the other hand, there are some specs and features that the company could have improved. We would have been happy to see the Lumia 1320 have a better camera and a higher capacity internal storage.
But we think Nokia must have already considered these points and might not have implemented them because of some specific reasons. But in the end, the Lumia 1320 still turns out to be a winner and with a price tag of under $350, the phablet will sell like candies and chocolate bars.
