The Sony Xperia Z1 has a 5-inch touchscreen display with a full HD screen resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels and a 441 ppi pixel density. The display type on the Xperia Z1 is also TFT capacitive touchscreen and is made up of a shatter proof and scratch resistant glass. Both devices support multi-touch up to 10 fingers.

The Nokia Lumia 1520 is equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset. The Lumia 1520 is powered by a 2.2GHz quad-core Krait 400 processor, Adreno 330 GPU and has 2GB of RAM.
The Sony Xperia Z1 is equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset and is powered by a 2.2GHz Krait 400 quad-core processor, Adreno 330 GPU and 2GB of RAM. The Xperia Z1 is also equipped with the Sony Mobile BRAVIA Engine 2.

The Lumia 1520 runs on the latest version of Microsoft Windows Phone 8 operating system. The phablet comes with an operating system called Windows Phone 8 Amber that consists of all the latest updates from Microsoft.
The Sony Xperia Z1 runs on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean right from start. So consumers do not have to worry about updating their devices, not at least till Android 4.4 KitKat is out in the market.

The Sony Xperia Z1 comes with 16GB of internal storage and a microSD card slot that supports storage expansion by up to 64GB. So at best, the Sony Xperia Z1 can provide a total of 80GB of storage space.

The Nokia Lumia 1520 has a 20MP PureView primary camera and a 1.2MP secondary camera. This camera comes loaded with features including Carl Zeiss lens, Optical Image Stabilization, autofocus and dual-LED flash. The primary camera supports 1080p video recording and the front camera supports 720p video recording.
The Sony Xperia Z1 has a 20.7MP with autofocus and LED flash. The camera has a sensor size of 1/2.3” and supports features like touch focus, face detection, image stabilization, HDR and panorama. The Xperia Z1 comes with a 2MP front facing camera.

The Sony Xperia Z1 has a massive non-removable Li-Ion 3000mah battery. The device is expected to give a talk time of 14 hours of talk time on 2G and 15 hours on 3G.

The dimensions of the Nokia Lumia 1520 are 162.8 x 85.4 x 8.7 mm and the device weighs about 209 grams. The dimensions of the Sony Xperia Z1 are 144 x 74 x 8.5 mm and the device weighs about 170 grams.
With respect to thickness, both the devices are almost the same. And even when it comes weight, the Nokia Lumia 1520 and the Sony Xperia Z1 result to be heavy.
This has definitely been a very tough battle! The Nokia Lumia 1520 and the Sony Xperia Z1 are both smartphones that have recently been announced by their respective companies.
As a result of this, both these smartphones are new and are equipped with the latest hardware and some of the best software in the market.
